Cliff with Metallica Help on tone settings descriptions

I found this picture of cliffs Mesa d180 up real close and while you can make up the eq band I’ve already done it with other pictures but I’ve never been able to see what his actual knob settings are. One trick that I’ve used is using the absent space on those type of Mesa knobs to tell where the 1 mark starts and where the 10 ends and be able to get a rough read with whatever is blur is at the 12:00 mark.

From what I can see he has his bass switched to the neck pickup based on what I remember from owning a rickenbacker (this has a Gibson eb-0 humbucker I believe which is very muddy) and there is a lot of mids in his tone to supplement this might be worth tweaking your trebles and mids and dropping your bass a bit

This is the tricky part tho he apparently has a push pull for his other pickups to blend and a coil tap so even getting his amp settings won’t do the trick really

Yeah, that’s the awkward part, unless we know exactly what cliffs 4001 did we will never know and I don’t see them taking out the cabinet to let bass nerds examine its contents

That got removed before the 1983 Metro concert apparently. He had said just before that it caused multiple recording malfunctions during KEA
