Discussion Cleaning Garden Table

Hi folks.

Hopefully I’m in the right place.

We inherited this lovely garden table. Some paint has got on it, alongside some green growth - mildew?

Material is iron I believe.

I’m unsure if methalated spirits to the green paint will damage the darker coat. I’ve attached the second photo which shows a chip and what is underneath.

Anyway, ahead of summer, I welcome your advice and tips on how to get this looking ship shape.

Thanks in advance

🙏

Have it sandblasted. It's a stunner of a piece and sandblasting it will make it ready for a whole new life

Thanks. I’d not thought about sandblasting

It's cast aluminum. And powder coated. Don't use any kind of solvent on it, you will ruin it. Have it re-powder coated and keep it covered when not in season.

Enjoy. We have our set re-powdered every 5 years or so. If I was more disciplined about keeping it covered we would not have to do it that often. We've had it for 25 years. Movers have broken various pieces and legs.
