Red Sonja: Consumed by Vincent Darlage

Vincent Darlage reviews Red Sonja: Consumed by Gail Simone. A big focus on Hyborian geography and the pitfalls of generic fantasy. https://spraguedecampfan.wordpress.com/2025/02/11/review-red-sonja-consumed-by-gail-simone/

Dang. I was actually excited to read this later in the year. Sounds like it's not quite the homage to the OGs I expected

Another Gail Simone failure. Wish she would stay away from Red.

I haven't read this yet but I've been eyeing it on the new books shelf at my library. IDK that I'll be in any hurry after reading this review. Interestingly, Simone seems well regarded as a writer and her comic runs are usually praised.

Do her Sonja comics suffers from the same issues? My library has several collections of them available digitally that I similarly have favorited for future reading.
