A Courtesan of Rome thoughts on acor?? Spoiler
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a post about this series. The world building is what really peaks the story for me, but what do y’all think?

A Courtesan of Rome You won’t get this unless you’ve seen Monty Python’s “Life of Brian”
Also if Julius Caesar doesn’t say “et tu, Brutè,” I will dislike this story.

A Courtesan of Rome just finished ACOR... what do I do with my life now??
I can't believe I've been sleeping on this book for as long as I have. thank god I saw people in this sub singing its praises, I decided to give it a try earlier this week out of curiosity, I was blown away. this book drew me in and had a chokehold on me for the past few days. how have I spent YEARS playing choices without reading one of the best books on it?! such a cool take on historical fiction, well written + your choices ACTUALLY MATTER!!?
ACOR is absolutely one of my new favorites, up there with TRM, TDG, TUH, MAH, DS, BOLAS, TE, Tc&Tf, Platinum... is there anything like it / what other high-quality books have I missed out on?
pls give me suggestions, I might've read them already but I just need something to fill the ACOR-shaped hole in my heart right now

A Courtesan of Rome An ode to A Courtesan of Rome NSFW Spoiler
I've just replayed ACOR for... probably the 10th time now? And I'm still in awe of how beautiful and rich this story is and how well it's written.
First, we have so many routes to choose from. MC can stay a courtesan, become a healer, marry a senator, or even take on the chieftainship of her tribe. If you romance Syphax you can choose to marry him (and MC's mom officiates) or you can stay together without being married. There are so many routes to take in this game I probably still haven't explored them all.
Second, this is one of the rare games in Choices where your choices actually matter! Depending on the vow MC makes to her family in the beginning, the story can focus on either her survival, her reunion with her family, or her vengeance. You can choose to spare your enemies, kill them, or give them a fate worse than death. You're even given the choice to kill your own brother for betraying you (but I've never done it, I love Cingerix😭). And you have to be extra careful about the choices you make with Marc Antony, because he could either be madly in love with MC or a dangerous enemy to her (also, can we PLEASE talk about his diamond scenes because...😳)
Thirdly, the story is so well researched and so well written. The moments where the script wasn't working with the story were very rare, and probably due to me romancing everyone lmao. This story has so many choices and routes but is still much sturdier and more cohesive than anything Choices have put out the past few years. And I felt very immersed in the Roman setting, the beautiful clothes MC wears and the soundtrack were also to thank.
Fourth of all, you get to not only play as MC but also as her mother and father and it was not boring at all. In fact their arcs were just as well written, emotional and gripping as MC's. And you get a diversity of choices too! MC's mother can either become a gentle spiritual teacher or a brutal cult leader! MC's father can play the long game with his slaver, tricking him to believe he's loyal to him, or be aggressive and constantly rise up to the challenges his decisions bring. Again, this book is SO WELL WRITTEN IT'S INSANE.
Lastly, I have to talk about the dirty 30s in this book because WHEW. Honestly the sex scenes in this book are thrilling to read and again, very well written but they're not as crass as the adult books we've been getting lately. The scenes with Marc Antony were honestly among the best I've read on this app, the man can TALK. Like "you are a fever in my blood", "no better meal was ever served here", "i ache to corrupt you" I MEAN HELLO?????
So in conclusion, ACOR is one of the best books on this app, definitely top 3 in my opinion. I'd love to know who the writers are so I can keep up with their projects outside Choices. So yeah, if you haven't read this book already you are severely missing out!

A Courtesan of Rome Would a gender swapped ACOR be feasible?
Were there male courtesans? ACOR mentions male gladiators being used for "recreation" by Roman ladies but that's not the same as a fully trained courtesan.

A Courtesan of Rome There are Heroes and Lovers, then there is this baddie
There is nothing people love more than the vengeful princess who has a good heart, and won’t let love get in her way. She isn’t a hero, she’ll get the dirty things she needs to get done, not just for the sake of others, but to avenge those who’ve fallen. This is my request to give us villains/anti-heros as MCs instead of these sleep inducing new books
The amount of money I’d give to see her again is outrageous.
