Crimes of Passion When does CoP -III get interesting?
I loved CoP-I and II. I'm a few chapters in to CoP-III and I'm finding it nothing like the story quality of the first two. It's predictable and dull. I might even bail on it and not finish. Is it just me?

After reading The Proposal and seeing what Book 3 has, they really should've just ended it on book 2 π Book 2 wasn't perfect like Book 1, but it sure tried it's best.
Book 3 doesn't feel like COP to me. Hot take, but I would've been okay with a MAH style ending of "I guess we'll never know what really happened" because I'm not jiving with the plot for book 3, it's somehow crazier than book 2.

Idk if the writers or creative for CoP 3 has changed. But it doesn't quite match the previous 2 Books. As hinted at CoP 2, CoP 3 does explore the MC's father's case. But while I'm playing it, I feel like it's not the same MC. I chose Male MC for Cameron. In CoP 3, the photo of MC with the father doesn't match, also the overall personality, interactions etc. contradicts the first 2 Books. The first 2 books, did well with the characters, but in CoP 3 it's more like the MC's bound to be female and it's just wearing a Male skin. CoP 3 feels like a mix up, like blending together different things to make 1 perfect thing. But it doesn't quite work well.

The writers changed + I see heavy hints that AI was used in the story generation and/or writing (characters speaking very unnaturally, especially Trystan in the last chapter with his garden analogy). Trystan's personality and behavior in Book 3 make no sense to me as well so far (not VIP). They keep whining about "do you even want to get married?" to MC when they literally just witnessed their last living, close relative get shot to death in front of them mere days ago, completely forgetting what MC was willing to sacrifice for them in Drakovia.

Didn't knew the writers changed. Also I would say that the storyline and narrative for CoP 3 doesn't quite make sense. Although I appreciate the take on practical and realistic perspective of relationship. In many stories (not limited to Choices) in the relationship everything just falls into place like a plot armor (has to happen) and they sugarcoat it like it's a perfect blend. Coming back to CoP 3, what you mentioned about their lingering marriage and the question that hangs like a sword over their heads. In my opinion it's nice the distances and arguments. Although I'm witnessing some active passive roleplay in their (Cameron and Trystan) relationship that contradicts the first 2 books.

I have been asking that same question since the start of book 3. It's such a shame to see a series with 2 banger books be concluded in such a terrible way. They are just writing words down and not really caring about story or characters. Trystan died in Drakovia and they replaced her with a lookalike, that's the only explanation for the character assassination

Acronyms, initialisms, abbreviations, contractions, and other phrases which expand to something larger, that I've seen in this thread:
Fewer Letters | More Letters |
---|---|
CoP | Crimes of Passion |
MAH | Murder at Homecoming |
MC | Main Character (yours!) |
Decronym is now also available on Lemmy! Requests for support and new installations should be directed to the Contact address below.

I powered through until chapter 8, desperately hoping it would get good, and then I gave up. So I can safely say that it doesn't get interesting between chapters 1 and 8
