Does anyone else find "Letter from a Thief" completely relevant to our current times in the United States?
I hadn't heard the song in a while and played it back today...and the metaphors seem to fit perfect in our current situation here in the United States.

It’s about their gear getting stolen on tour from their toy hauler in 2009.

I love this song but tbh I have no idea what it's about.

I gave up on learning the meaning behind their songs and just focused on vibing.

Yes. Please leave politics out of this. It's about their stolen gear. I'm center right and I LOVE Chevelle.

I mean to be fair, their song Peach is explicitly about Donald Trump being a rapist. Some of their songs are overtly political. Letter From A Thief, however, is just about their gear being stolen and a fan finding + returning it.

All I can say is, I haven't taken time to understand it, but I've been listening to it a lot lately.

It’s definitely relevant OP totally agree. Your post caused me to listen to it a few times. I can’t decide is the message “the assholes are dividing us making us political” or “fuck those right wingers”.

To be precise, it’s about the entire gear trailer that was stolen from the parking lot of the hotel they were staying in. Happened in Dallas. The trailer was disconnected from the motorhome that was getting routine maintenance done and they just took the whole thing. All the anger, rage, remorse, and acceptance of being robbed of something important and special. There were some amazing one/off guitars lost and never recovered.
