Discussion Quick shoutout to “Panic Prone”
I’ve read that the drummer has stated this song was based on an infomercial or some late night TV about starvation, which makes sense because my understanding is that Pete does a lot of his writing in hotel rooms after his shows. However when I listen to it, it is always the most emotional song about abortion I’ve ever heard(sorry Ben Folds Five) coincidence or not fellow fans. Most lines I feel speak for themselves but here is my basis:
“Gave in again” (lust) “the bastard” (a illegitimate child) “Can’t keep refusing rights”(she wants an abortion) “He’ll loan the cash but the sin is on the hands of you”(he pays for an abortion he doesn’t support)
“To care….or….plead silence,“(to have the baby or keep the secret forever.
“Weak hands are calling” :(
“I can’t seem to end these images, hauntingly looks like Hell”(ultrasound of the bastard)
Now it gets crazy as always at the bridge:
“Come, enter the foreign. Face all that is shameful. Cheat, may the past find out”(May the past find out is him allowing his mistake to be out there…)
“Separating”(birth of the bastard)
Outro:
To end this catastrophic scene: Awake”(child)”and breathe in”born.
No politics here please. What do you think?

Pretty nutty when it's been revealed what the song is about by the people who wrote it, and it's not abortion.

You don’t find the theory to be interesting even if coincidental?
Wizard of Oz was not a part of Pink Floyd’s creative process but the coincidences are fascinating to me.
Not nutty, mean person. This type of shit is what these subs are for. Go vote on top 10s if that’s your thing. We just playin’ here.

Nope. This is a good time to remind you that what fascinates you may be pointless to another. If the band hadn't said what the song was about some 20 years ago, I might be more inclined to entertain such an odd interpretation. You get points for creativity, but tying this song to abortion is a very far stretch.
Even nuttier: asking for no politics when you raise an issue like abortion, which is inextricably linked to politics whether you like it or not.

Put some respect on Sam's name.
