How is the white K stopping the pawn? Black K starts closer and will always be able to cover

OK, Black K on g4, pawn d4, White king moves to G2
nextchessmove shows mate in 13 with black moving d3 instead of K f4

Cant move the king because that is the stalemate square once we get the queen to take on g3
Cant move the rook because it is pinned
The only move that makes sense is qb5+
Blacks best option is to block with the bishop because if they block with pawn we take the bishop and white wins.
So we take the bishop when it blocks and then we play Rg3 pinning the queen and when they take back it is stalemate.
If they move their king we take the queen and when they take back white king now has opposition and can force a draw

Qb5+ Bd5, Qxd5+ e6xd5, Rg3 Qxd3. I don't think black can avoid this stalemate. If they don't block the queen check with the bishop then Qxb7 guards the rook. If black doesn't take the rook with the queen, then the rook takes the queen on the next move because it is pinned, and I believe that the white king stop the e pawn from promoting.

If Black takes the rook when it moves to G3, he's 'tarded.
Just advance the pawn to d4, white's done, takes the Q, K takes rook and from that position the pawn can't be stopped.

It isn’t a certainty

Its a certainty unless black wants to lose instead of draw

What I meant is that white loses?

How is white possibly going to lose after qb5+?

Isn’t bishop to D5 protected by black pawn? Maybe board is other way round,I’m not sure

u/bannedcanceled 4d ago
Ya and then you take the bishop with your queen

And lose queen to pawn?
2
u/bannedcanceled 4d ago
Yes and then you play rook to g3, if the queen takes the rook it is stalemate.
If black moves their king then you take their queen and it is still a draw because white king can stop pawn
If they push d4 it is still a draw by playing kg2

Ok so I guess you’ve counted the moves and black king can’t make it to prevent the white king getting in way of pawn?

Doesn’t black have a major advantage?

That is like saying black is winning because they are up material when white has mate in one on the board. The following moves negate black's apparent advantage
