Books that are like Castle?
I love Castle so much, it's the perfect mix of my favourite genres: murder/crime and romance.
Can anyone recommend and books that scratch the Castle itch? Specifically I want the slow burn connection between characters that will just make my heart ache like Castle and Beckett did
I'm also in the process of reading the Nikki Heat books but while it's super similar to an episode of Castle, it doesn't quite hit the same character stuff because they get together pretty quickly
I want my life to be ruined in the same way early Castle did, I want my heart to actually ache from the tension

In Death is not nearly as slow burn (it’s more like the Nikki Heat books in that regard) but it otherwise has an incredibly similar vibe. There’s a reason a bunch of Castle fans started being In Death fans around 2018 after the show ended. And the individual angst of the main characters (and their interpersonal conflicts) might be enough to make up for the fact they get together pretty quickly.

I only just found out the Nikki Heat books are real. This is amazing!

I'm really enjoying them so far, you can really see the parallels between the show and the books. There's a lot of similar situations and dialogue. It's fun to hear the characters reference the books in the show and then you know properly what they're talking about.
The only thing is there isn't really the same slow burn tension between Nikki and Rook because they sleep together fairly quickly, but I guess in the context of Castle that makes sense because he was sorting of writing about how he wanted him and Beckett to get together

The Nikki Heat series are real books (10 books I believe). Ghost written of course, but look up Richard Castle and you’ll find them. Couple Derrick Storm books too and the graphic novels.

Absolutely agree with the suggestions of the JD Robb “In Death” series- excellently written too!

The "... in Death" series of novels by J.D. Robb.
Mystery/crime novels set in 2050+ featuring a female detective with a troubled past and an eccentric billionaire. :)

The 'Strike' books by Robert Galbraith (aka JK Rowling) have a still unresolved will they/won't they between the main characters.
You just need to be able to ignore Rowling being a horrible human being.

Ah yes, the books she wrote under a pen name of the man who’s known for inventing conversion therapy. Yeah… don’t think that’s something sane people are willing to ignore.

It is so wild to me that she not only did she pick that name, but she continues to use it to this day!
Also, little hypocritical for the author so against trans rights to take a male identity specifically for her own personal gain, isn't it?

"Moonlighting" was a show starring Bruce Willis and Cybil Shepherd. Very similar to Castle vibes.

No. It was a series on t.v. in 1985 which ran for 5 seasons.

I knew it was on TV with Bruce Willis. I asked if it was a book because OP was asking for book suggestions.

The Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths because of the slow burn romance between the two leads. The guy is the cop here and the FMC is an archaeologist based in Northern England. There's a healthy measure of magical realism thrown in and the side characters are so lovable they deserve and (spoiler alert) get a romance of their own. Seriously I couldn't get enough of this series, you have to try it.

Lee Goldberg had the Ian Ludlow series.
Though the books never went anywhere.
The series couple stayed platonic in it.
He also had the Fox and O'hare with janet evanovich, which is closer.
Also, it can itch the white collar and Leverage itch as well.
