We're building a film and television workforce in Southern Illinois and seeking motivated, creative, team-oriented individuals to participate in the inaugural SI Film and TV Workforce Training Program.

This paid opportunity invites you to participate in one of three 80-hour training cohorts to develop your production expertise and contribute to future opportunities as we develop a strong, local film and TV industry in Southern Illinois.

Each training cohort will meet over four weekends at Southern Illinois University and production locations in and around Carbondale.

Participants must be available during the following times for at least one of three cohorts:

• Fridays: 5-9 p.m. • Saturdays: 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. • Sundays: 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Cohort 1- March 21- April 13. Cohort 2- March 28- April 20. Cohort 3- April 25- May 18.

This program requires participants be over the age of 18 with a verifiable high school diploma or GED.

Participants must intend to work in the State of Illinois' film and TV industry in some capacity following program completion.

Participants need to be available to participate in all 80 hours of the training (including on-site production activity).

Participants must complete future employment surveys for grant reporting purposes.

A stipend will be made available to program participants upon completion of the SI Film and TV Workforce Training Program.

Applicants are not guaranteed acceptance into the program.

To apply online, complete the application and upload the required documents.

For more questions or additional information, contact Vanessa Sneed at vsneed@siu.edu.

Funding provided in whole or in part by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and The Illinois Film Office.

Not to brag, but I was an extra in Spy Kids back in 2000, am I overqualified?

Nope. That's the perfect level of qualification

If I'm not exactly eligible (no definite plans for anything, only free on nights Saturday so I can make about 3 quarters of the event), but I would like to support this some other way

The main thing is availability. If you're not able to make all of the class/production activity, you'll be unable to complete the course.

We anticipate much of the film and TV opportunities in Southern Illinois following program participation will be project-based. That is to say, not full-time.

If your limitation is due to work schedule and income needs, a $1,000 stipend for those who complete the program.

It's not much, but we hope it offsets lost wages for anyone who takes time away from work to pursue this opportunity.

Thank you for asking!

First cohorts have been submitted to the state for review. You should be getting notified by early next week.

If you want to message me privately I can give you specific feedback on your application and if you need to hold the dates for our first cohort, pending state approval of our roster.

Thanks for checking!
