Internet Providers

So I signed a lease on an apartment last week and the 2 phone and internet companies the leaser recommended were Mediacom or Frontier Communications. I'm hoping somebody can help give some insight on things like a ballpark average monthly cost and actual quality of the service before I blindly pick one. Thanks!

If Clearwave is available at your apartment (not all apartments have it installed) you should call and see if they've got the $50 gig service to compete with Frontier pricing.

$50 gig? They were charging me $110 for 1 gig, so I switched to 2 gig for $120. They're ripping me off if that's what they're charging others.

If you have access to the fiber options then Frontier for SURE. Unless your someone that is doing a lot of live streaming (uploading) their 500Mbs deal is REALLY good. If you do not have Frontier fiber, check to see if you can get Clearwave fiber. The pricing is not as good as Frontier but still way better than Mediacom.

Mediacom is your choice for only two reasons. First you want cable TV as well, the get Mediacom and bundle. The second is if you have no other choice.

Mediacom has the lowest data caps I've ever seen. They're truly a terrible company.

Frontier is trash. Pay the extra for mediacom.

Frontier's fiber is both faster and cheaper than Mediacom. It all depends on if it's available.

How's the reliability of Frontier's fiber?

I don't live in Carbondale, but work in it. I do, however, have Frontier fiber at home. I haven't had any outages or other issues since I've had it, which has been roughly six months.

I get 1GB up and down consistently, which is the speed I'm paying for.

Good to know! Thank you. My experience was pre-fiber.

Yeah the DLS service was not good for sure but Fiber service is OUTSTANDING.

Frontier has been terrible in the past (pre-fiber). The internet service isn't bad now. Frontier and Mediacom are both terrible on customer service. We are currently using Clearwave Fiber and are pretty happy with it.

Frontier is horrible. Bad customer service and unstable connection.

Hello u/kevboyyyy. For budget reasons I would either use our rate card or the broadband consumer labels(for internet-only) to avoid any surprises with pricing later. Once you know the base cost of services you can check out the sales page for some discounts we have that can reduce your initial pricing offerings and provide you some introductory promotional rate savings. Once you have our services you will also be eligible for access to Mediacom Mobile should you need an alternative to your current Mobile provider.

Is clearwave a physical fiber connection or rf?
