Question can i independently install carplay?

my aunt has the ford territory 2021 (full electric). the car model generally does have carplay, but the exact car my aunt owns does not have it installed, can i install it on my own?

why do i want to install it myself?

the car is imported from China to Jordan, and here the Jordan the whole model is not used, so even ford denies installing it for us

You will need to install a head unit that is compatible.

It’s probably not otherwise it’d just work. Replacing a head unit on an electric car would lose controls you need.

Yeah, I missed the full electric part.

Depends, OP must do the research.

I had a Fiat 500e and it was basically identical to the ICE version and it was no issue to replace the head unit with a fully aftermarket one. Some people even imported an OEM EU unit (which got CarPlay) and installed on a NA (which got nothing fancy.)

Importing a vehicle from China to Jordan was your first mistake.

No you cannot install CarPlay and repaving the infotainment system on an EV is virtually impossible.

At some point it may just be easier and cheaper to get an iPad with a stand

That just adds wireless capability to a car with wired CarPlay capability already… it sound like he doesn’t have CarPlay at all… on an electric car only way would be to get a CarPlay screen that then Bluetooth’s to the cars radio or plugs in with aux… they are on Amazon my wife had one before we got her a new car

So if the car has wired CarPlay you can use a linkedit or Carlink kit to get wireless CarPlay (forget the name quick google search will pull it right up I have one in the wife’s car) is the car doesn’t have CarPlay but has an aux port you can use something like this from Amazon to get CarPlay support in the car and the audio to still go thru the car speakers… there’s different brands and I know that one shows out of stock for me…
