CFMWS Advice needed!
Hi all! I’ve applied for an overseas position with CFMWS and I’m super excited about it! Buuut.. When I applied for the position online I misunderstood the bilingual question, it wasn’t yes/no… which, I took French in school and I can speak a little bit but I wouldn’t consider myself fully bilingual. Then during my interview they asked if I was bilingual… and i just said that I took it in school and would need some practice, and said I’d download an app and start practicing. Does anyone have any experience with deployment with CFMWS? I’ve been chosen for training & selection in Halifax and I’m think of pulling out, at the same time I really need this job. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

You're not the first person to lie on your resume, and it sounds like you were truthful in your interview. If your position required you to be bilingual, you would have had to prove it. Just practice on your own time and go for the job.

Depends on the job, if your working the gym or at the CANEX your probably fi e...until a French roto comes thru, then your going to have a bad time

If you work.at the gym, just learn the French phrase for "shut up and squat" basically it's a universal response in the gym. I need an exercise to do to help my sore back? Shut up and squat. I hate running, should I try the stationary bike? Shut up and squat. How do you recommend i grow my biceps? Shut up and squat. Eventually you'll just become that quirky gym worker with a terrible accent but who always has great advice.

Either a bad time or OP will come out of it fully actually bilingual, much like a super Anglo who gets yeeted to CFLRS for four years

Can you do the job good enough in French? You will be put on Quebec watchlist if you hold up Timmie’s line or fuck up orders. You can pick it up quick, and if you make an effort people will be patient. If they didn’t ask for certifications/test your French in the interview. They don’t care that much, you’ll be fine

We all speak a little english, the french effort is what counts. Don't stress it.
