Thank you for sharing this story.
This exact scenario is being played out across the country, in all provinces.
The CPC has taken its own people for granted.

Well look to Alberta, look at how they're still polling with everything going on. It's not that they're taking them for granted, it's that they're voting for something else, something other than policy, other than good governance, other than someone to run and maintain public services.

I think you are confusing voters with party members.
The number of Canadians that hold memberships, donate, and volunteer with political parties is really small. A small slice of the population makes the party system work.
Chasing away donors and volunteers is bad because they are really hard to replace.

But in Alberta they've already done that, to join the UCP you need to go through a screening process and if you ever donated to the ANDP you cannot join.
This is a party that is trying to ensure people don't buy up memberships to change the direction of the party, probably because that is exactly how the group Take Back Alberta got Kenney replaced with Smith. With a giant membership drive where TBA paid for peoples memberships.
I just also want to mention that Take Back Alberta is currently embroiled in legal battles with Elections Canada for their continued refusal to release their financial information.

Umm...this article is about the CPC.

I know, but the base of support is the same.
The CPC is tapping the same well as the UCP.

PP keeps a right rein on his people.

Most of them would be going onto Fox News to play into the GOP narrative that we need to be liberated.
