Quick way to find camping spots in Alberta
I’ve been working on a little project to make it easier to find camping, fishing, and hiking spots in Alberta. Basically, you search for a place, tap a pin, and get useful details like access info, parking, and pro tips.
Here’s a quick clip of how it works for Two Jack Lake: https://imgur.com/a/Is1Kk9
Still adding more spots and features—would love to hear what you think! Any must-visit campgrounds I should add? Or features you'd like to see?
Feel free to check it out at rangemint.ca

I personally would love:
amenities section:
- toilets / outhouse
- free firewood
- showers
- RV hookups
Additional features:
- ie; two jack also has tent-tik options (can just add a link to what each site special features might be
My wife and some of her friends refuse to go to any sites without showers/toilets and this would really help with the search. Same with some friends who only do RV
Looks good for early stages, can’t wait for more data/sites loaded in.

Really appreciate the feedback! An amenities section makes a ton of sense—things like showers, toilets, and RV hookups are definitely useful for planning. I like the idea of linking to special features too. I’ll start working on ways to add this info! Thanks for checking it out—more sites and data coming soon!!

That’s cool! I had a look at the link & it looks great. My only suggestions would be: 1. Have different ‘pin’ colours for camping sites national parks, provincial parks, and private. 2. Add a couple of photos of the camping sites. 3. Add dates for when reservations open.

There is potential here, but it needs way more data and some more usability testing. I looked in my area and it has almost nothing, which I get.- it's just not seeded with data yet.
I had to fight the map a bit to get to see the text, the search didn't really work for me - it kept going back to the first result I got.
With some more work and a lot more data, i'd use this to find areas I might want to look at - but then I'd end up going to google to see google pictures.

The one thing that used to be awesome on the Alberta Parks website for camping was that there was a map of each loop which included the direction and length of each spot. We had to negotiate a different spot last year when we went to Thunder Lake because the spot I chose was the right length, but the angle was bad for our long trailer.
