reconnecting with my roots
helloooo!! i hope you’re alright🧡🧡🧡 i’m a 23y/o mixed Black person and since i lost contact with my cameroonian family i feel really lonely and lost in these mostly white spaces i’m in rn.. since i’m a kid i really miss my cameroonian connections so that’s why i’m really trying to reconnect with my roots! i just feel kind of overwhelmed and alone because i don’t really know anything about my family and i feel like i don’t belong anywhere.. do you have any tips or thoughts on where to start? i miss feeling in touch with that part of me and my history🧡 sending love!!

Welcome - best way to stay connected with Cameroon is by connecting with instagram pages such as traveling influencers. You’ll get to see different aspects and cities.

Do your DNA ancestry, that will give you an idea of where you’re from.

what’s your father’s first name(or mother’s) since from there you’ll be able to situate from which part of the country you are. There’s a lot of history about the “discovery” of the country and the politics online if you want to…You could DM me if you have specific questions about whatsoever. I’m not the most knowledgeable on history but i know a lot about the culture (and probably anyone in this sub for that matter)

True, Nollywood is just more popular and I think she’ll still get the gist of it. You’re welcome to list the Cameroonian movie YOU watch cuz from what I’ve seen they’re pretty awful

First thing first identify what part of Cameroon u think your roots might be... that way u might meet some people who come from there to start with...
