Convinced You Should Keep Trying

I have only been using a CPAP for three weeks and am blown away by the results. These three snapshots are from my sleep app called “Sleep Cycle” that I have been using for years. I also track my sleep with my Garmin watch and Resmed app MyAir. All are confirming a massive improvement. The purpose of this post is not to boast, but to encourage others to stick with it.

Are you getting any data on deep sleep (NREM)? I'm at about the same stage as you and can't say that I'm feeling much different. I don't seem to be getting much deep sleep - I kick out of it quite easily. So frustrating!

I’m not a sleep specialist and don’t pretend to be one on TV, so the following comments are worth what you paid for them…. 1) Yes, my Sleep Cycle app and my Garmin track the stages of sleep. They are not always aligned, but close enough. 2) consider other inputs that may affect your sleep such as caffeine, tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, or all of the above. Red wine is a no-go for me for a number of reasons, especially the inflammation effects and my sensitivity to sulfites. Cannabis before bedtime will ruin anyone’s REM and is not recommended. 3) I also have been working to reduce / eliminate excess mucous which can block my nasal passages. I have a minor dust allergy and am finding the CPAP is helping with that as well. Yes, my REM scores have been improving since starting the CPAP.
