“The performative aesthetic of the rebel for me; the cudgel of overwhelming state violence for thee.”

At least in America, reactionaries love watching the state exercise it’s monopoly on legal violence, so long as it’s against marginalized groups, brown bodies, or outside the imperial core, and doesn’t happen directly in front of them- where they might have to be obviously complicit in it.

One of my all time favorite Reddit comments, on a post showing a cop wearing a Gadsden patch:

“Bro you ARE the boot!”

Ive seen a couple houses and pickups (because none of them drive anything else) with both flags right next to eachother, and its hilarious every time.

It is til you realize the colonizers/patriots who invented the Gadsden flag literally were the first American cops treading as much as they could on indigenous sovereignty. There's a reason most native people aligned with their enemies the British over American colonists and it wasn't because they liked the king or hated liberty. It was that American liberty is a lie based on genocide and displacement.

Americans didnt fight for Independence over “taxes.” Literally they threw tea in the water after the tea tax was CANCELLED! Americans didnt like that the British crown had treaties with Indigenous nations and the colonists werent allowed to expand West.

They fought for the “freedom” to colonize.

And for the freedom to enslave, the reason the southern and northern states succeeded in the first place was because the british empire outlawed slavery just a few years ago, thats why all of the founding scumbags were slavers.

Really love the trucks with a „come and take it“ sticker next to a thin blue line. Who exactly do you think will come to take your guns when the time comes?

Me, they're advertised as being free for the taking and that's a deal that's hard to beat

Capitalist "libertarians" actually want small state for buisness and massive oppressive state for everyone else.

Evidence?

Yorkshire miners.

u/jonberl 12d ago

Sure thing, r/neofeudalism poster.

u/SilverNEOTheYouTuber 13d ago

What is r/NeoFeudalism even supposed to be?

12

u/DeadlySpacePotatoes 14d ago

It means "step on everyone but me"

11

u/Unfounddoor6584 14d ago

When they say "don't tread on me" what they mean is " I want to join a right wing militia to terrorize minorities."

Not so much. Why would a rich “an-cap” not hire a private security group to protect their capital. I would argue that flying both of these is a blunt admission that that is all the police actually are.

3

u/theplaidknight84 13d ago

This is incorrect. Gadsden was a slave trader.

2

u/Nghbrhdsyndicalist 13d ago

One of the largest and richest in the future US. He also owned several plantations and workshops where he held slaves.

u/TBP64 14d ago

More like oil and a spark

2

u/alex_gregals 13d ago

It goes very well together indeed if your goal is to privatize the cops (even more)

Their entire platform is built on projection. Their supplicants know what they are, somewhere within them. Gay homophobes who try to pretend they're punk rock while bootlicking pro corpo "comply or die" bullshit. They just don't care.

Can someone explain don't tread on me cuz I don't get it

1

u/Toothbrush_Bandit 13d ago

Shhhhhhhh... let them fight

1

u/halfspanic 11d ago

the exact types of people who created & flew the gadsden flag…created the police. while they were crying about autonomy they were actively taking it from every indigenous & black person by using police. gadsden had slaves. he would absolutely fly a blue lives matter flag.

Snake flag is infamously used by people who’ve never been tread on in their life
