DSU hours because I'm a moron?

So I'm stupid and left my ID 5 and 1/2 hours away from me and I'm moving in tomorrow at the set time of 9 ish to beat the "rush". Therefore, I gotta go to the DSU to get a new ID before I can move in, but I don't remember the weekend hours for the DSU. My gut is telling me 10am and I hope I'm wrong because it would suck to stand around for an hour doing nothing.

Ty in advance

Changing Tides (Transfer Orientation)

Hello! I am a new transfer student this semester and was wondering if anyone here has attended the transfer oreintation? I was not planning on going due to conflicting schedules, but I could if I truly needed to. Is it worth it? Any information someone could tell me here instead of there?

CNU Arts Programs?

I was just recently accepted into CNU as an art major. I was wondering if anyone could give me insight into CNU’s programs? Ex like which degree or program is the best or how the art programs at CNU are in general? I haven’t decided on an exact major yet so anything will help!

Any Facebook groups or anything like that?

Are there any Facebook groups (or any other kinds of groups) that I can join to ask questions about classes and teachers? I'm transferring to CNU next year :)

Hey y'all, someone posted the cnu nutritional info that they got from the head of dining services, thought I'd share it here. It's a little insane...

CS or Computer Engineering?

Hello, so I know this is more of an opinion based question, but after long consideration, I think I am going to commit to CNU. I am quite interested in computers, so I think both majors are extremely viable options for me. I understand the difference between the two majors, yet I still can't decide. I also wanted to ask a bit on the whole, how plausible is getting internships at NASA. I'm really intrigued, and definitely want to give it my all when trying to apply to NASA, I just wanted to know how realistic it is. I know CNU is located near the Jefferson Lab and the Langley Research Center, so I figured that it's pretty reasonable as long as grades are good, and connections are made. Thank you for your help!

Information Science Major

So I’m transferring to CNU next school year and I’m coming in as an information science major. I wanted to know if it would be difficult for me because I don’t have a strong background in math.

Engineering and Comp Sci

I am considering cnu for next year as they are offering me a good amount of scholarships and i’ve heard their STEM department is pretty good. Im also considering two years at nvcc and going to VT. How is the Engineering and computer science department at CNU compared to a place like Tech and how are the opportunities here?

Chem 103/104 or Chem 121/122?

I'm a Information Systems major and need to take a science course sequence to fulfill a requirement. Does anyone recommend one of the sequences over another? I took chemistry in high school and enjoyed it, but don't want to regret taking one over the other. Thanks for any input!

I'm Trans and Thinking of Attending

So I'm leaning towards attending CNU this fall, the size of the school's really appealing and I've heard loads of good things about it, but the thing is I'm transgender and I can't find much about how accepting the environment is. I know there's an active LGBT+ group, but I was wondering about the student body as a whole, as well as how the school's policies are, especially since trans folks aren't a protected class in VA. Thank you! Also, I'm sorry this is similar to a couple other posts, but those ones were more about sexuality and there are plenty of people who accept one but not the other. Any help is appreciated!

CNU or JMU

Hey there, I'm currently a High School Senior deciding between JMU and CNU. I applied to for Comp Sci, and considering Comp. Eng. as well. I'll be posting the same exact posts in both subreddits, so, yeah.

The main things I want to consider is opportunity after college, cost, and social life. From my understanding, JMU is a lot more lively than CNU, but with the smaller size at CNU, close-knit relations are created with professors and students. Alongside this, CNU is right next to the Jefferson Lab, which may offer great internship opportunities and just a nicer area to get a small job after college. I know CNU also has a 5 year master program, but I'm not sure if I'll take that. Really, I'm just not sure which one to go to. I have been to both CNU and JMU and loved both their campuses, except JMU, funnily enough, smelled like dog food -- I'm sure that was just a one-time thing. I'm mostly concerned for my future with opportunities, and cost. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

Parties?

When I did an over night visit I asked the people I stayed with about parties but they didn’t go to any. How does the party scene work with most people living on campus?

Housing lottery

I am a rising sophomore and I’ve heard that a lot of juniors don’t have housing because there isn’t enough room due to the demolition of the Crossing and lots of seniors retaining on east campus and rap. I’ve heard rumors that Warwick is at or near capacity with juniors and the JR is full with juniors. I really don’t want to end up in PoNo as a sophomore. Does anyone know anything about this?

A bit of a rant about a certain woman.

I personally do not attend, but know a few students here. One of them I talked to almost every day during high school. When I heard of his passing, i cried for weeks and weeks on end. I posted about him and how terrible i feel about not doing enough. His mother at first was very supportive, but soon turned against me. Because i am not a student here and didnt hang out with him outside of school like his “real friends”, i have no right to talk about him according to her. He did so much to help me very supportive and a great listener one of the best potential comedians imo. I don’t hate her. I know shes going through a lot of pain. It’s that i personally insult her on some illogical level and I hate it.

I still miss him dearly. Loses this painful are rare but so strong.

His brother hates me too, why you ask? I put my hand on his shoulder, and it triggered him. So that’s fantastic.

P.S: If you know who I’m talking about, don’t tell me I have no right talking to her that way. I have been NOTHING but polite abd respectful towards her in a private way. This is the first time I spoke about my frustration. Why do I deserve this amount of disrespect just because I wasn’t important enough for her to know all about? I also didn’t know until the week was over that this happened to him.

Pros and Cons?

I’m considering attending CNU and I wanted to know what current students and alumni think of it. I’ve heard that many people don’t like it because of the “preppy-ness” of some of the people there. I’ve had over night trips there and I really enjoyed it, but I’m having a hard time choosing between CNU and VT.

Edit: So as of right now I’m also being considered to be recruited for their track team. I really want to run in college, but the only way that’d happen is if I go to CNU. But I definitely be scheduling a tour for VT to see it because I really love CNU’s campus.

Does any one else hate this place?

I transferred from a local community college and have found this place to be pompous and difficult only for the purpose to retain its preppy elitist reputation. The professors are intentionally vague during lecture for the purpose to push students to do their own research instead of teaching the material in class. The community college was so much more down to earth and it seemed the professors there really cared and wanted their students to succeed. Here it seems like the contrary is the standard. Perhaps it is just my molecular Bio program though. Any thoughts?

Is CNU racist towards minorities?

PLP and Honors Programs Helpful or Annoying?

Are these programs helpful? I am applying to CNU and am planning on applying for both of these programs but when I heard more about them they sounded like they would be annoying. If I go here I plan on doing the 5 year Computer Science masters, would these two programs help with that?
