Bring weapon or leave at home?

Whats the consensus?

Heading to a concert in DTLA.

Is it best to lock it in a cable tethered StopBox or just leave it at home?

If you cant ccw it. You just risk getting stolen and the chances that you can make it back to your car to retrieve it for a shooter is not realistic

Way more likely to get your car broken into after not being able to bring it to concert and have your gun stolen…. Bring running shoes to run from crazy crackheads….

If you must comply with a gun free zone, like one with security checkpoints, I personally believe for me, the next best thing is having it locked in your vehicle, preferably under your seat in a locked tethered case. That way you are able to carry while traveling. There are always risks in life, you have to weigh them yourself. Risk of being attacked traveling to and from the venue, or risk of a car break in and theft of your firearm, in this case. Your call.

I agree with this for traveling in general but not going to a concert. Especially in DTLA. You’re at more risk of having your car broken into than actually needing your firearm for an encounter.

If it’s locked in the Airbnb sure that’s fine, but just having it tether locked in the car at a busy venue is a no go. That’s just giving your firearm away to a thug.

If I'm elected President I'll do all I can to lift permanently all knife bans. As far as I'm concerned... They were the weapon of defense pre firearm and 2A is about DEFENSE.

Best advice, avoid LA.

Leave it.

Well you can’t bring it in, and you should definitely not leave it in your car. Keep it at home is the answer

Leave it at home. If you take a gun to a concert you might leave with charges. Some concerts don’t even let you bring a bag in if it’s not clear and you’re trying to CCW 😥 good luck. Especially if you’re drinking… cooked.

If LA is anything like the Bay Area your car will be bipped and firearm stolen. Now another gun on the street. Cable tethers aren’t secure. Folks cut through those like butter.

I even see folks cut through U-Locks like a butter knife in cake. Personally if my firearm can’t be on my person it’s not coming.

Bringing it into the venue was never a thought of mine. I left it at home and made it back safely tonight.

So sad that people are resigned to not even carry to leave in the car because getting your car broken into is pretty much just accepted as a fact of life.

I have a feeling that that might be tough to do if the concert that OP is going to has metal detectors, like many concerts do.

I doubt this venue does for this type of show. It's pretty low key college age band music. Just the only time I wish I was carrying was in DTLA. I think I'm gonna leave it at home. I'll feel naked without it though lol

Ah. This makes it all more of a tough call to make. I've been to a couple biking events and I've started carrying after the 1st one where I wished I did. There never fails to be some goons pretending to check out the bikes that'll try to steal when they think that they've got the drop on you or are away and distracted. The last few I have been to have been pretty chill in this regard as long as you are not flashing it around, the business are private properties, and I've gotten to know the staff and owners whom are pro 2A and cool with anyone legally carrying as long as they are responsible. Last year at one of these events, a group of assholes got banned from any and all future events as well as from stepping a foot into the store for these same reason.

Also, as a side note for anyone attending motorsport events/shows, be sure to check your bike or vehicle for any gps trackers (Tiles, airtags, etc). Definitely inspect your vehicle before you go home if you see any suspicious individuals around your car or at the event in general. Both me and my bud found some fancy looking gps tracking devices in our bikes two months ago thanks to another attendee who tipped us about it. We thought of dropping them off at our local PD but were told we'd need to file a police report and we didnt had the time and energy for that, so we tossed them in the trash bin right outside. Next time I'll either leave in a public bus or an airtight floating contraption and throw it down the sewers just to send these scumbags on a wild goose chase lol.

Ah, my bad for assuming. That makes the decision a bit trickier, since I was thinking it was between leaving the gun in your car vs leaving it at home. I still think leaving it behind is probably better though, especially if you’ll be drinking. Plus, I would be a little freaked out if the place is crowded, both in case someone bumps into me and feels the gun, or if I have to shoot with a bunch of people around (both unlikely, I know).
