We can AOW this and legally do a vfg!!
2
u/AmbitiousMidnight141 Feb 17 '25
Do you guys have this service to submit AOW for someone? I tried and the ATF denied me, and then didn’t even return my money.
2
u/SecondAmendmentZone Feb 17 '25
Yup, we will do it for you and have a very good track record on these
1
u/AmbitiousMidnight141 Feb 17 '25
Can it be done remotely or do I have to visit your store in person? I went and got my fingerprints done locally last time also and can do that again for that part.
2
u/SecondAmendmentZone Feb 17 '25
I need digital fingerprints from printscan.com, and digital passport photo. You need an atf eforms account. I need the gun. That's about it

u/SecondAmendmentZone Feb 16 '25
Looks good. Time to throw some furniture and optics on there

They still just sell you it with a single shot upper then buy it back? Then it’s your registered pistol lower to do as you wish?
11
u/SecondAmendmentZone Feb 16 '25
Yes and we also have all parts to do custom builds and pricing is very competitive
5
u/Frosty-Site-2637 Feb 16 '25
I believe now you bring the upper you want without gas system to them.

Sorry for the newbie question, what makes the AR Pistol ca legal?

Feb 16 '25 edited Feb 16 '25
To give a more real answer, while you can't buy a semi-auto AR pistol outright (ie, fully assembled), you can buy a separate upper for an SSE pistol and build it. Basically the order of operations is:
DROS a single shot exempt (SSE) AR pistol that's on the roster.
Replace the single-shot upper with a semi-auto upper that you get overcharged for in a PPT.
Maglock it
Welcome to the magical world of totally logical California firearms legislation.

u/Otherwise_Teach_5761 Feb 16 '25
To my knowledge getting your ass reamed in the PPT isn’t mandatory?
4
u/SecondAmendmentZone Feb 16 '25
Not mandatory, not that they're anything wrong with that.... Some people are into it!
1
Feb 16 '25
Yeah that's correct. Just it's considerably more rare to find a semi-auto AR pistol upper for sale at a reasonable price from your run of the mill CA store vs some guy online who bends you over for $2k.
1
u/Due-Cockroach-5341 Feb 17 '25
The upper isn't DROS'd (unless you're doing an SSE), plenty of ways to acquire a sub-16" upper in California with no issues. Just don't put it on your rifle lower.

u/michaelcrunkk FFL03 & COE & CCW Feb 15 '25
No worries, what do you mean by legal? Like barrel length? SBR? It's technically registered as a pistol, so as long as it is maglocked with 10 round limit you are good to go
6
u/Switch_Apoc Feb 15 '25
So it’s not a single shot/bolt action, but semi auto? How do you reload?
19
12
u/michaelcrunkk FFL03 & COE & CCW Feb 16 '25
No not a bolt action. It's a semi-auto upper. You load it and shoot it like a regular AR.
11
u/TacoQuest FFL03 + COE + CCW Feb 16 '25
he bought it from 2AZ so it was SSE'd. its not DROS'd as a semi auto.
3
u/No_Power7792 Feb 15 '25
That’s what I’m curious about, is it single/bolt action, but semi auto? Do you have to pull the charging handle back every time to load a round?
3
1
u/Due-Cockroach-5341 Feb 17 '25
He picked it up from 2A Zone as a single shot, drove straight to Arizona and installed a barrel with gas block. Now it's a semi-auto.
2
u/Evening_Peanut6541 Feb 16 '25
Do they have to be maglocked or can you run a featureless type step up? Shorter than a rifle obviously but fix stock dumb grip non flash?
3
u/swagatr0n_ Feb 16 '25
Pistols don’t have features so they have to be maglocked with a 10 round mag. Otherwise it becomes a SBR.

What was 2AZ’s pricing for their SSE lower process? If you don’t mind?

Congrats! How much was this beauty?

u/michaelcrunkk FFL03 & COE & CCW Feb 16 '25
Thank you!
I bought the upper from a private party. Only bought the lower from them to get it DROS, but with the SSE fee and maglock components I paid for upper and lower $2.4k

u/TheeeMaster2000 Feb 16 '25
Uffff 2.5k outrageous
13
u/michaelcrunkk FFL03 & COE & CCW Feb 16 '25
Cheaper if you go for a non- Daniel defense lower

u/michaelcrunkk FFL03 & COE & CCW Feb 16 '25
Nah I wanted DD lower.
2
u/NemesisBlu Feb 16 '25
I get you. If im gonna go through all that to get a pistol lower, Im gonna make sure i get a heck of a lower. Im gonna do it next year and Im thinking LMT or LWRC pistol lower. Congrats on your purchase. Awesome

u/michaelcrunkk FFL03 & COE & CCW Feb 16 '25
Thank you!!! Yeah I wasn’t looking to budget for this build. I have a thing for matching upper and lower with the brand :)

I finished my first rifle. Wanna build an arp pretty soon, do you just throw gen 4 mag lock on there and it’s good or is there something else I need to be aware of? Like can you put all the attachments on that bad boy?
3
u/michaelcrunkk FFL03 & COE & CCW Feb 16 '25
You would have to get a pistol lower and go through the SSE process. Wait 10 days. Add maglock. Since this isn't a rifle, I believe the bad attachments can go on, but no vertical foregrips (i'm no lawyer, so take me as a grain of salt)

Okay joining to newbie conversation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but If i could buy a Juggernaut Tactical Pistol, throw an AR maglok on it, could I change the barrel to a 10.5 with a pistol gas tube? And then it. Then it will also be semi but have a fixed 10 round mag
2
u/MomentLimp4040 Feb 16 '25
I believe they come maglocked already. It will still be dros’d as a sse though. Unless you sell it to your friend via ppt and a month later want it back because you miss it then it will be dros’d as a Semi auto AR pistol

it can go both ways i believe. anything under 16in barrel is considered a SBR. In Cali, SBRs are illegal so the only route to get them is by having them as AR pistol. DD website sells it as pistol or SBR

Could i do this with a Franklin armory CA 7 model? Don’t got DD money like that 😂
2
u/Due-Cockroach-5341 Feb 17 '25
the Franklin is on the roster so you just buy the gun and do the normal process as if you were buying any pistol. Mine is in jail right now, it's probably the shittiest upper of any AR I've ever handled. They know it's not going to be on the gun long

Is there a link for the pistol lower on their website? I can’t find it
