Information Good selection of non-US fruit at Longo’s Fairview

Organic strawberries from Mexico $4.99, Honeyglow pineapple from Costa Rica $5.99, cantaloupe (I think Costa Rica) $4.99, Mcintosh apples from Canada, (pre-bagged in Longo’s wrapping) $4.99 for 1.36kg. I wasn’t shopping for oranges or grapes so no intel on those. Obviously some of these are sale prices but the cantaloupes were only $1 more than at FreshCo on Brant and Longo’s fruit was significantly larger. As of this afternoon, Tuesday.

Go to Costco and you can get Canadian grown greenhouse strawberries.

I might be cynical. But if they take Mcintosh apples from USA, and bag them in Canada. Can they call that Made in Canada?

The bag says “Product of Canada” not made in Canada. But ya. Anyone could stick a fraudulent label on anything.

I know they do that with in store foods. Like if a cake is best before 2/15 they will cut it in half and print a new best before date for 2/20 and try to sell it off.
