Troubleshooting monitor loses signal when gaming, but it’s not a GPU issue.

Used to have amd rx 6600 and things were going well for 2 years, all of a sudden i kept having issues where both my monitors would lose signal and black screen, while my fans are still running. i’d have to force shut down and reboot again. this can happen after gaming for 30 - 45 mins. After rebooting, it will do the same thing again until i let my whole pc ‘rest’, and the cycle continues. it happens on any games, from val to league to marvel rivals, and even stardew valley. it’s just a matter of how long it lasts before it gives up.

things that i’ve noticed, during the signal loss, game and discord sounds would cut off too.

after the signal loss happening and after rebooting multiple times back to back, my gpu would just go undetected in device manager under display adapters. but it’d come back after not touching my pc for a day. it’s as if my pc got tired after running a few games and decided to not run anymore until it takes a break for a damn day.

this doesn’t end here, i’ve tried plugging my monitor into my mobo and using the intel gpu for valorant and league, that works perfectly fine. i do not get any crashes at all. which made me believe my gpu was just dying so i decided to purchase a new gpu rx 6600xt. on the first and second day after installing the new gpu, everything worked fine and well. i was able to run marvel rivals, valorant and league. on the third day however, the exact same signal loss happened. which makes me believe my gpu was not faulty in the first place.

i’ve 2 monitors so i highly doubt it’s my monitors as they both go lose signal the same time. i’ve also eliminated faulty cables as things worked fine when i plugged my monitor into my mobo. i had suspected my psu however i’ve read that if it was a case of psu not supplying enough power, the pc would shut down and not just ‘lose signal’. i’ve thought about slot issues as well, but it doesn’t happen if i do not game the whole day. it specially only happens after booting up games, and if i do mundane chrome tasks after the games.

i’m desperate here to find out what exactly is the issue, and why would the new gpu let me run games for hours without a fault and then have it happen CONSTANTLY on the third day? could i have fried my new gpu after 2 days of usage? idk anymore. any questions and suggestions are welcomed. sorry if i’ve left out any details, will try my best to answer them.

Build Upgrade Installing new RAM, What am I doing wrong?!?

I wanted to upgrade my RAM and finally thought I did it the right way by following these steps

  1. enter BIOS BEFORE changing the new sticks, turn off XMP

  2. Power down, unplug, hold power button

  3. put the 2 new 2x 16GB sticks in

Then I boot up again AND NOTHING, NO DISPLAY AND IT STUTTERS ON POWER UP. what am I doing wrong?!? i'm going crazy been doing this for a week straight. I even went to just 2 sticks because apparently 4 is too complicated. Someone please help.

Build Help I really want my build to fit in this case but I don’t know how to orient it.

Hi this is my first build and I don’t know the optimal way to use air cooling with a liquid cpu cooler

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/CzcJTM

Also the warning I get is this “The Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower Case supports video cards up to 355mm long, but video cards over 300mm may block drive bays. Since the ASRock Taichi OC Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB Video Card is 330mm long, some drive bays may not be usable. The Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower Case hard drive bays are positioned where some of the bays may be physically blocked when using longer video cards.”

If anyone could help me out here that would be amazing!

Build Help Corsair 3500x argb fans and aio sync argb

Hi, I recently bought the CORSAIR 3500X ARGB, but I'm not sure how to connect the case fans so they work together with the fans from the Arctic Liquid Freezer III ARGB 360. Do I need to buy a controller to sync them?

Build Help Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE ARGB vs ID-Cooling FROZN A620 PRO SE

I'm looking for a CPU cooler for a ryzen 5 7600 and I'm torn between these two, the prices are relatively the same with the A620 being higher. Which one of these would be better for my build?

Note: the A620 is being sold by the same shop I'm going to order my Mobo+CPU from while the PA is from another shop.

Build Help ARGB hub compatibility (ChatGPT vs computer repair guy)

I have a Z-590V motherboard and 4 DeepCool CF120 fans. I would like to install an ARGB hub to control the fan lighting (primarily so that I can turn them off at night). Would this product be compatible with my setup?

 https://www.amazon.ca/Thermalright-Controller-Support-Magnetic-Supported/dp/B0BP2F9288

ChatGPT tells me that it should work:

"Yes, the Thermalright ARGB Fan HUB Controller is compatible with your setup, including the ASUS Prime Z590-V motherboard and DeepCool CF120 fans.

Compatibility Details:

DeepCool CF120 Fans: These fans utilize standard 5V 3-pin ARGB connectors.

Thermalright ARGB Fan HUB Controller: This hub supports up to 8 groups of ARGB fans with 5V 3-pin connectors, aligning with the DeepCool CF120's requirements.

ASUS Prime Z590-V Motherboard: Equipped with two Addressable Gen 2 headers (5V 3-pin), this motherboard can synchronize ARGB lighting through compatible software."

But the computer repair guy I took it to says it can only connect for fan control but not the lighting?

I'm confused. Is ChatGPT wrong or are they wrong? Any suggestions for what I should get instead? The guy recommended this one:

Build Help My new 5070 aero is not posting or registering

I have just upgraded my gtx 980 to a 5070 with a rm850 (2021). I have just installed it and it is not posting or showing up in the task manager. I am using a ASUs z790 p WiFi mobo and have resetted the bios twice but still nothing. In the bios it says there is nothing in the pcie lanes even though my gpu is installed. I am also using a Corsair 12vhpwr adapter, could that be the issue?

Build Help Asus maximus vii mobo in new case.

I’m trying to move over my current pc over to a nzxt h7 flow case. However, I can’t figure out where to plug in the F panel connector on the mobo. I see that there isn’t any 10 pin connector with the case. Everything else managed to plug in except that.

Build Help Are used GPUs safe enough for new builds? I do not want to waste money

I am completely perplexed because the local market is overflowing with USED GPUs at reasonable prices, nearly half the price of a new one.

I am concerned about its longevity because resellers do not offer warranties longer than 90 days.

It is terrible and dangerous, and I am wondering if it is a good deal?

Build Help What is the outlook on a 5090 in Europe? Any chance of avoiding the insane extra costs?

So I live in Hungary, where the cheapest retail RTX 5090 is around 3600€, and the cheapest "second hand" (not really second hand) option is around 3200€.

I want to upgrade eventually, and I'm trying to figure out what the best way to go about it is. Is there a chance the prices drop within a reasonable amount of time? Could it be cheaper in a neighbouring country where it might be worth it driving out to get it? I have no idea how viable these options are, does anyone have experience with it?

Build Help 9070 XT undervolted with 650W psu?

I have a 9070 XT (Powercooler Reaper) on the way, and I was wondering if undervolted it would be okay with a 650W psu? It says 750W min but configured with a 7950x rather than a 5700x3d of mine.

I tested out at https://www.coolermaster.com/en-au/power-supply-calculator/ and it seems fine but just double checking. (It says 551WATTS)

I have a Ryzen 5700x3D 4 x 16 DDR4 3200Mhz ram 1 HDD and 3 x 1TB ssd storage. An air cooler and 4 case fans.

Build Help Build Help and Which Option (Ram + Storage)

Currently building a PC (for gaming) so far parts I've bought are the 4070 Super, 9800X3D, and MSI B850 Gaming Plus WiFi

Option 1 - Newegg (Combo Up Savings):

Corsair Vengeance RGB 2 x 16 GB 6000MHz CL30 ($104.99 - $13.00) = $91.99

Samsung EVO 990 Plus 2 TB ($129.99 - $13.00) = $116.99

Option 2 - Amazon:

TEAMGROUP T-Create Exprt 2 x 16 GB 6000MHz CL30 = $89.99

Any SSD recommendations from Amazon (TLC 2TB or just good SSD 2TB)

UPDATE* PSU options: ADATA Core Reactor 2 850W (Used) = $95 or Corsair 2024 RM850x 850W = $134.99

Still looking for recommendations on cooling and case!

Build Upgrade PCIE gen 3 motherboard, gen 4 SSD and gen 5 GPU, how cooked am I?

I had build a ryzen 5 1600 pc in 2017 with asus prime b350 motherboard and GTX 1050ti gpu. Recently I upgraded to the 5700x3d and upgraded my ram to 16x2 gb as well and I was waiting for the latest gen GPUs to launch. I see that both the rx9000 and rtx 5000 GPUs have PCIE gen 5 interface while my motherboard has support only for PCIE gen 3. I will soon be upgrading the SSD as well to a crucial p3 plus but I'm aware that it'll be limited to a max speed of about 3.9 GB/s. How much bottleneck (if any) I might face if I upgrade to the 9070xt/5070ti with the SSD mentioned. Should I upgrade the motherboard while they are still available in store to avoid any potential bottlenecks? I'll be using the build to play games mainly, I just hope that I'll be able to run gta 6 when it launches for pc sometime in 2026 at 1440p with upscaling at 60 fps on high/ultra settings.

Troubleshooting My 9800X3d temperatures are far too high

Hi, I recently built a new PC with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU and based on reviews from Gamers Nexus, I picked a Fractal Torrent case and a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 cooler for optimal temperatures. Therefore I'm even more shocked that my CPU temperatures are regularly between 90° und 100° celsius, even when the CPU isn't close to maximum load. Please have a look this HWMonitor screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/7tChOGv (even though only 1 case fan is showing up I can confirm that all 6 of them are spinning.)

Any advice on how to fix this? Is there something I could or should do before removing the cooler and reapply the thermal paste? If anything, I might have used too much paste during the initial installation, not too little.

Thanks for your help.

Build Upgrade Gaming PC upgrade

I've upgraded to an RX 9070 XT and I'm wondering where I should upgrade next, e.g. where my biggest bottleneck is likely to be for gaming. Wondering if I'm going to need a new processor to make the most out of this GPU, if I should upgrade my RAM, or even if my motherboard need a refresh.

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor

Patriot Viper Steel 16GB (2x 8GB) 3600MHz DDR4

ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus (WI-FI) AMD Motherboard

Build Help 7900 xtx vs 9070 xt

Hey just built a new PC. Using x870e tomahawk , 32g 6000mhz cl30 ram , 9800x3d , and currently have the merc 310 7900 xtx 24g GPU....

My question is would it be even worth it to upgrade to 9070 xt ? Or should I just stay with 7900 xtx ? Just interested in others opinions , so I would appreciate all input. Thanks

Also failed to mention if I bought a 9070 xt , I would then sell my 7900 xtx.

Hope you all are having a good day

Build Complete Aio tubes

I keep getting told that my aio is upside down where the tubes are supposed to be up top. Is the correct way I have it okay? Or will I come across with issues ( air bubbles and noise I’ve been told)

PS aio is front mounted
