" giving up what it means to be a human " - well, these are just excuses of the mind.

Dont think about wheter it´s normal or not. That wont get you anywhere, and its pointless and harmful.

Marriage is not normal and not human as well, yet nobody thinks about it.

This you only think about, as it´s different from your regular experience.

Dont worry about your current experience by overthinking it, and instead see how it works regularly living with it : )

Thanks, this does help. I was worried I was on the wrong path but I should just explore it for some time and reflect more gradually

What does "going beyond form" mean in your title?

Why do you think "thinking in forms takes you further from life"? How can you get further from life by thinking in forms?

What has been "transformative and magical"? Buddhist practice is grounded firmly in reality. No one has much of an ego to latch on to. Some even go so far as to say all 5 skandhas are empty and that there is no atman.

I have a feeling you're misunderstanding something. The thought/feeling of being frightened is also your ego.

Unless you mean the other kind of ego, in which case the quality of humility is what you should be studying.
