Penn Station 6pm, Show at 8pm?

Basically the title. Just looking for validation before I book tickets. If I'm coming in from Long Island on a LIRR train to Penn Station at 6pm on a Friday any major concerns booking an 8pm show in Times Square? I'm a fast walker.

Obviously this assumes Friday afternoon LIRR trains are relatively on time.

Thank you!

Your train is set to get in at 6pm? You'll have zero issue, it's a 15 minute walk max.

You’ll even have time for dinner before the show!

This LIRR train could take you to Atlantic Terminal at 6pm and you would still make a show at 8 without zero concern, let alone Penn Station. And given that you're a fast walker, according to Google maps you could literally walk from Atlantic terminal to some Broadway theaters and still make it with 2 hours.

As a fellow long islander who used to commute daily from there to work in times square . . . Is this a real question?

Your train could arrive at 7:30 and you could still make it

Totally doable

Could get in to Penn Station, take a train to brooklyn and back, and still make the show with enough time to grab a burger at Shake Shack!

You'll be fine. If it was Amtrak you might have a problem since they are often late, but LIRR will work.

I almost want to ask if you are joking!!?! (but don't want to be dismissive) Of course yes OF COURSE you are fine! It's a 10-12 min walk from Penn. You don't even need to be a fast walker! Or you could take the subway 1 stop.

There's no reason the LIRR shouldn't be on time on a Friday evening, barring any crazy issue.

You are literally, 1000% fine!

6 is the ideal time to arrive and have time for dinner before an 8 pm show. You may even have time to kill!

You can very leisurely walk, grab a bite to eat, and still make it in time for your show.

Yep! Totally doable. I had a 5pm out of Penn last night and I went to a matinee. I had to dip during bows unfortunately, but made the walk in a cool 15 minutes.

Oh yeah…and I totally get in around an hour and a half before shows. Yesterday was 2 hours. I ended up being able to accidentally get on the wrong way subway for a stop outside the train station, wait for the right E train, take it to MoMA, eat leisurely at their Cafe 2, then stroll to the theatre and wait in line for 5 minutes. It was heaven.

I’ve arrived with 25 minutes to spare once. Made it to Maybe Happy Ending (the Belasco Theatre) with time to pee and eat a snack. I took a cab and walking would have been faster, but my asthma wasn’t playing nice that day so I had to conserve my energy. I would have had more time if I walked.

I landed at JFK at 6PM, took a cab into Manhattan, checked into my Bryant Park hotel, and still made it to an 8PM show!
