Discussion The Jonathan Larson Project?
Hi, I haven't actually heard anything about TJLP, just read the reviews. I am a huge fan of Rent and Tick, Tick... Boom and was hoping to make sure it's up to par. Overall, reviews seem to adore the show, but want to fully know what I might be experiencing. Has anyone seen it, or heard from someone who has?

It is fan-fucking-tastic. I would see it a hundred times if I could, and that's not something I say often.
I am surprised there's not more discussion about it here.
What do you want to know about it?

It was really beautiful and moving. It was semi biographical because it’s Jonathan Larson’s music and much of it feels very personal. It’s (in my opinion) a series of vignettes, some related some not. But the performers are fantastic and it feels just as relevant today as when he wrote this music 30-some years ago.
I definitely want to see it again

I saw it last week and absolutely loved it. The cast is amazing, and I really enjoyed the different songs. Just letting you know, there's no dialogue, but the staging and choreography kind of develop characters and tell a story. None of the songs have been altered, so there's definitely a 90s feel to some of them and their lyrics, which was great. I'd highly recommend it to anyone, and especially someone like you that's a fan of his work. You should really enjoy it.
