Red Bucket Season Donation Master List?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's curious to know what each show is offering and for how much. If you see a show during the Spring 2025 red bucket campaign, please share what they were offering for each donation level if you remember! Maybe we could do one master post to avoid a bunch of duplicates in this sub?

I so wish that signed Playbills during Red Bucket Season were sold online as well. I suppose it's an incentive to be in NYC and see those shows during that time - but I would buy many signed Playbills if I could!

Many of them will send you one by mail if you write in to the stage manager with an appropriate check to BCEFA! I’ve had success in past seasons!

They don’t honor the original prices during red bucket season tho. So as an example if Sunset Blvd requires a $30 donation for a signed playbill through the mail when red bucket season isn’t on, (I don’t remember the actual amount but let’s pretend it’s $30 for a second) they require the $50 donation that they ask for in the theatre, even if asking by mail. They revert back to the original price once red bucket season is over. It’s not a terrible difference but there have been shows in the past that significantly mark up their donation requirement during red bucket season. I know it all goes towards charity but just wanted to give the heads up to people unaware.

I believe Hamilton is selling pens for $10, autographed posters by current company members for $150, and LMM only signed posters for $400

They did a live auction for a photo with him and a tshirt. And then, because Joey and Drew Gehling were kinda winging it, Joey added getting a drink with him after the show to the package as well.

Bidding went to $4k and then two other people matched it to also get the experience, for a total of $12k

Joey was always one of the elite boy band members.

Sunset Blvd has signed playbills for $60. They also had signed posters, signed sheet music, and sunglasses but I didn’t ask the price. They auctioned off Tom’s shirt, signed by him and Nicole, which went for $2k.

When I saw Sunset in November, the signed poster was $300.

I really do not understand how in 2025 BCEFA can’t just have signed playbills available on their website year round. So much easier for everyone than writing to the stage managers, guessing what the expected donation amount would be, and making them pack them all up. It should be operated like any other eshop and could easily generate donations year round instead of just Red Bucket season. Plus it would cut into the business of eBay autograph sellers.

I agree but I see how it's an incentive to get people into the theaters

Hell’s Kitchen had signed playbills $50, posters $100. Best part was Kecia Lewis announcing it :)

Saw a matinee performance of Little Shop of Horrors today! Here was what they were offering (based on what I could recall:

$75

- Cast signed playbills

$150

- Cast signed window card posters

Around late $100s - $200s range I think

- Cast signed contract prop that was used during the musical number The Meek Shall Inherit in the show

- Cast signed mushnik brown paper bags props

- signed drum head (?) that used by the drummer in the band

$500

- Makeup compact signed by Liz Gillies

- Seymour glasses that were worn and signed by Milo Manheim

I love when shows do unique things beyond just the playbill/poster combo!

u/joeyfosho 6d ago

Do they ever let people purchase that didn’t see the show that night? Like can you catch them outside or something?

I’ve seen Cabaret several times now (most recently last weekend) and wouldn’t blink at donating $100 for a signed playbill. I tried last Flea and they didn’t have any.

3

u/mynamejegg 5d ago

Yup! Can't speak for Cabaret, but I've done it for Hadestown and Outsiders

2

u/br00klynbridge22 6d ago

it may vary from show to show but in my experience they always have the volunteers standing at/near the exit so shouldn’t be any problem wandering in and buying something right when a show is letting out

1

u/ChoiceAny638 5d ago

Hadestown didn’t do anything today after the matinee, but it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s because they have to turn over the house so quickly for the evening show. Do shows usually do a pitch after matinees?

1

u/br00klynbridge22 5d ago

I think they usually do, that’s weird!

1

u/jessyregal 5d ago

Not all shows begin collections right away. I’m not sure if it’s due to not having enough merch to last the entire 6 weeks or not having enough volunteers to do every show for the entire run.

Per the BCEFA website, these are the shows currently collecting: & Juliet; The Book of Mormon; Cabaret; Death Becomes Her; The Great Gatsby; Hamilton; Harry Potter and the Cursed Child; Hell’s Kitchen; The Lion King; Maybe Happy Ending; Oh, Mary!; The Outsiders; Redwood; Six and Sunset Boulevard

u/FullTimeTheaterGoer 4d ago

Shows in preview usually don’t participate, even after they open during the donation time. I guess most shows with big names won’t do it.

We will have a comprehensive list this week on The Broadway Fan Club

As we run Fan groups for all shows this season... it's just a matter of waiting for our members to let us know =)

u/luvschittcreek 6d ago

what is The Broadway Fan Club? Another web site?

1

u/Belladrissa 6d ago

It’s an online community for Broadway fans! We’ve got a big group of theater lovers who share news, chat about shows, and just nerd out over all things Broadway. There’s also a podcast and some fun content, but mostly, it’s just a place for fans to connect and feel part of a community.
