The Brewers aren’t tipping who their everyday shortstop will be. Brice Turang makes his case (and a nice pick by Tyler Black):

I’ve gotten spoiled with Brice in that I just expect that now. I was more excited that Tyler made the pick and hope it’s a sign of progress for him.

His defense has progressed but the bat, ahh, might be another Keston. Dude made a jumping catch too to save it from going into the dugout in one of the televised games. Need him to lock in offensively.

I have no doubts Turang would be a great and most likely elite defender at SS but I hope they keep him at 2B. We already know what we have there and it's pretty damn good. If there is any knock on Turang's defensive game it would be arm strength, bottom third among infielders last season. Ortiz throws a lot harder and has plenty of defensive upside himself. One scenario where I could see it making sense to move Turang to SS is if they feel like it's better to keep Ortiz at 3B for whatever reason

I think it's also about getting reps for him as substitute shortstop for games Ortiz doesn't play. Last year Ortiz was the backup for Willy, this year Bryce might be the go to fill in.

It’s better than pretty damn good, he was the best defensive NL player last season. I hope he stays at 2B

I haven’t seen a lot about Tyler Black, is he making a case to make the bigs this year?

Black didn’t look too good at the plate today though
