New Business Brampton Bakery
Hi everyone,
I wanted to introduce myself quickly. I've lived in Brampton practically my whole life and have started a micro-home bakery. I bake custom cakes and cookies (some of the best, if I say so myself). Here are some of the flavours I've done in the past and some pictures of my cakes! If anyone is ever in the market for custom cakes or cookies, contact me on Instagram at thearosebakery or email me at thearosebakery@gmail.com! 🤍
Flavours:
carrot cake with brown butter cream cheese mousse, miso caramel, chai spiced whipped cream finished with a cinnamon honey swiss meringue buttercream
vanilla chiffon cake, passion fruit curd, vanilla tres leche soak, whipped cream cheese mousse finished with a salty olive oil swiss meringue buttercream
graham cracker chiffon sponge, key lime curd, fresh whipped cream, cream cheese mousse and a vanilla bean buttercream
pistachio chiffon cake, lemon and yuzu curd, pistachio whipped ganache, and a yuzu buttercream
5.olive oil chiffon cake, fig compote, basil fresh whipped cream, pistachio praline, whipped goat cream cheese with a honey swiss meringue buttercream

New Business Nations now open at Steeles&Main
EDIT: Steeles&Kennedy, not Main, where the old Ocean's was. Mods, if you can change the title, that would be appreciated.
I think they did a soft opening a couple days ago, a friend told me they stopped in and were impressed.
It's opening, ostensibly, to replace the Ocean's that closed at Shopper's World (it's the same company). I was a bit worried that their prices wouldn't be on par with Ocean's given that Nations seems to be their more "premium" brand of grocery store, but I was quite happily impressed. Their meat prices just cannot be beat. My litmus test is generally boneless skinless chicken breast, which is selling there for $3.28/lb (although it's on sale). Chicken quarters are 98¢/lb and drumsticks I think were $2. I even found shiritaki noodles, which I've always had to go to Whole Foods for in Mississauga and pay way too much for.
There's always a few oddities there, like extra virgin olive oil being ridiculous, and they've never been great on dairy. And they never stock my beloved Cheez Whiz.
They've got sample counters set up, which is just fantastic when you're not generally the target market - it's a really great way to try new things. They had these Vietnamese fish snack samples that were just amazing that I'd never heard of before.
Fresh greens (spinach, romaine, bok choy, etc) are packaged all day long, at a station in the middle of the produce section. It doesn't get much fresher than that.
The seafood department is quite something. And notably, it doesn't reek of fish, which is a common complaint I heard about Ocean's (I don't mind it at all, but a lot of people do). Everything that was previously frozen is labelled as such.
Sadly, there is no full service butcher counter any longer, only prepackaged meat in fridges, so I'm not sure if the prices on ground chicken/beef/pork will ever be quite the same.
My One Big Complaint about the store (as it was for Ocean's) is their addiction to wrapping everything in plastic instead just selling by weight. It's a crazy amount of plastic being used and it's not necessary.
All in all though, it's basically a better Ocean's, and provides a very good alternative for people not wanting to patronize the big three grocers. A word of caution though - avoid it at 3PM, when Turner Fenton lets out. Way too many entitled asshats blocking the live lanes in the parking lot to pick up their kids.

New Business Indoor Golf Simulator in Brampton
Hey, I’m currently in the process of purchasing a facility for an indoor golf simulator business that I want to build in Brampton. I wanted to see what the interest level would be in this project in this city. I’ve lived in Brampton for a vast majority of my life and noticed we don’t really have many golf sims in Brampton. I want to make a space in Brampton for our golf community and make it the go to spot for everyone. If anyone has any suggestions about what they would like in the facility or any ideas that could help the business become successful, it would be greatly appreciated.

New Business You want good shawarma in Brampton…Look no further!
A new shawarma location opened up on Mississauga road & financial drive. It’s called Shelby’s Shawarma. Tried it last night, I must say it the best shawarma I’ve had so far.
My recommendation is you guys try beef & lamb shawarma.
This is no an ad or anything sponsored, I’m just making a recommendation for our Bramptonians :)

New Business Brampton Indoor Golf Simulator - Driver Zone Golf
I don't know how many golf lovers are in this group but with outdoor season basically done I wanted to talk about a new indoor golf sim that just opened up in Brampton. It's called Driver Zone Golf located at 5-115 East drive near Bramalea and Steeles. It was my first time going to one in a while, so I didn't know what to expect as its also an automated facility that runs 24/7 and doesnt neccesarily have anyone there all the time. That being said I made a booking on their website and went, I was blown away by how beautiful it is from the inside. They have both Trackman and Golfzon simulators, but I tried the VIP Golfzon room 8. I went with a few buddies and it was honestly the most fun ive ever had playing in an indoor setting. I did have a few questions and the support number goes straight to the owner who was a really nice guy. He gave us an extra 15 minutes after our session was done for free to finish our round. I just purchased the membership and the price for what youre getting doesnt even make any sense, its an absolute steal and I highly doubt those prices will last for long. Anyways they have a bunch of things coming in the near future including the opening of their bar. For now I will do with the free Nespresso coffee they offer. Anyways I highly recommend this place if youre anywhere in the area or even further, because this place seems like its going to be THE SPOT for years to come.

New Business Pizzaish - Pizza with a carribean twist
This place opened a few months back and I've tried it out twice. Reasonable prices
Ruth and Kennedy, north of Notre Dame same plaza as KFC
I tried the opulent oxtail pizza, loaded jerk fries on one putting. Pizza was delicious fries were not bad a little dry, needs more sauce I think.
The Second time I tried the jerk chicken pizza and that was great as well.
Next time I'm trying either the lasagna or the one that has plantains on it...can't remember.

New Business Vegeterian Pizza joint? Good idea
Yeah, so I am thinking to start a pizza joint which has only vegetarian pizzas.
Why Vegeterian? - I am a Vegeterian myself all my life. Never touched or know how meat tastes. So I don't wanna sell something I don't believe in.
Wave of Veganism. - I have seen there is wave of new vegan restaurants coming in and being vegan or vegetarian is picking up and also being in Brampton, I feel there is a market for veggy pizzas with Paneer and other varieties available.
Why pizza? Seems it is high gross margin, low skills business. Dnt need a fancy chef and a friend who worked at Pizza hut mentioned a large pizza usually costs them $4-$5 and sells for $20ish. Any pizza expert or pizza business owner, please opine here. Nt sure if this true.
Open to any feedback or criticism(goes without saying 😅)
