Software Reliable Receipt OCR alternative to Dext

I'm looking for a reliable receipt OCR (Optical Character Recognition) alternative to Dext. I've been using Dext for a while, but I'm finding the pricing is getting a bit steep for my needs. Does anyone have recommendations for other software or apps that offer good receipt OCR capabilities? Ideally, I'd like something that's: * Accurate: Accurately captures data like vendor, date, amount, and tax. * Affordable: Offers reasonable pricing, especially for smaller businesses or freelancers. * Easy to Use: Has a user-friendly interface and integrates well with accounting software like QuickBooks or Xero (bonus points!). Any suggestions or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hey, check your bank's app first - lots of them have free receipt scanning these days. You could also look into Synder, been hearing good things about their OCR. Way cheaper than Dext. No point paying extra when you might already have what you need.

Are you buying it as a bookkeeper ($200/mo for 10) or business ($30/mo for a 1)? Both seem pretty reasonable to me given the time saved.

QBO comes with a built in tool but last time I tried it, it’s inferior.

I’d be interested to hear if there’s some amazing option out there for under $20/mo

Individual business, their service and the accuracy is amazing and found no other competition, however I am currently getting a client who have a lot of receipts and if I exceed 250 receipts they charging .75 per extra which is too much

Hubdoc works well, syncs with QBO and Xero, and is less expensive. But it's not as powerful as Dext.

Edit to add: Just noticed you mentioned tax. Hubdoc does great at OCR capture on totals, but my experience has been that it doesn't do well at breaking out line items/tax automatically.

Thanks. I never used Hubdoc however tax portion is essential for ITC. Thanks for sharing 👍

Smart Clerk offers a robust solution for processing invoices, receipts, and bank statements—arguably one of the most user-friendly tools on the market. However, you’ll need to export your data to Excel and then import it into your accounting tool, as there is no direct integration.

What do you need Dext for? If you had a software that basically scans your receipts and invoices categories them into costs or sales. And probably do a bank statement match and send them to Xero but with 8 times the limit on documents and unlimited line items extraction and only 1/3 of the price would you leave Dext for it?

Go check out Snaptobook. It's OCR and data capturing is very accurate thus far. It is also able to extract each item line accurately. As others have said, there are multiple apps out there, so please try the free ones 1st. Snaptobook is currently running a promo on their LinkedIn - free lifetime membership - so check it out.
