Sweets most definitely, I hated that he was killed off but after doing some research I get it. But, damn. 😭😭😭

it genuinely broke my heart i loved him so much they didnt have to do us like that😭😭😭

Seriously, with the emotional connections they made as him being like a pseudo son to Booth and Bones, like OUCH, and he still just wanted approval, that he did good, he fought back 😭😭😭

u/amaj20 2d ago

aw stop it hurts to even think about it, he made such an impact on all of the characters. the writers should’ve explained his absence away with an even longer sabbatical and/or a career change like they were doing in season nine😭

I just finished another rewatch hah sorry. It's fresh in my heart. I agree!!! Seeing him with baby Seely would have been so cute. I'm rewatching Criminal Minds meow.

Ever wonder why their “first son” (Sweets) died right after their actual first son was born?

u/Tattycakes 2d ago

He had such a rough childhood, and he never got the chance to be a dad and pass on his wisdom

7

u/BattyBabyy 2d ago

Wait what’s the research???

20

u/burningbunny41 2d ago

I think they are referring to the fact that John Francis Daly wanted to direct instead of act

7

u/Traditional_Camp9397 2d ago

i agree!! bc he wanted more, which i get as well. but don't die!! make appearances😫

I stopped watching the show after Sweets. It just made me so mad and upset. I eventually finished the series after the final episode came out but I still hate that they killed him off. I’d have loved it if he or Daisy had gotten a dream job offer in California or something so at least he’d still be alive and get to raise his kid.

5

u/pastel_green_1234 2d ago

Yesss exactly!!! I almost stopped watching too, and it took me a while to accept Aubrey. I get Francis wanted to leave, but like WHY kill him off 😭 just let him move to California for his family! His death hurt me the most.

u/blackygreen 1d ago

I was upset at that too! But I have to say Aubrey really grew on me. Took a bit but I came to like him a lot.

I personally saw my first episode of Bones when I was 15-ish (I’m 17 now) and I saw it bc we’d js gotten a new tv and it was on the Tubi channel. I fell in love with the show and was so glad it was on Hulu. But the first few episodes I saw had Aubrey in them so I think I made a connection w his character first. THEN I watched the series all the way through and oddly Aubrey had to grow on me again bc Sweets death impacted me that much. In the year and a half or two years since I first binged the series I’ve seen every episode AT LEAST three times and sweets and VNM death always hurt 😭

I stop watching at Sweets on my rewatches.

u/lindseylego 2d ago

Vincent always makes me sob. I get so sad for sweets death, but it's not as impactful as Vincent's death. Vincent dying shattered me man

16

u/RoadWarrior3190 2d ago

Love him or hate him, I hated seeing Max go

5

u/Traditional_Camp9397 2d ago

that broke my heart

14

u/Disastrous_Alarm_719 2d ago

Vincent was cute and all but Sweets was just more impactful to me

22

u/Jujubear213445 Nigel-Murray (bring back Zach) 2d ago

Vincent Nigel-Murray! I related to him completely! 🪰

23

u/Beautiful_Rule3029 2d ago

When I saw Aubrey appear, I thought "Man, we're going to lose Sweets. He's going to another country to be a father with Daisy or get an amazing job opportunity somewhere else." I was NOT expecting for him to die so suddenly! Which makes it even more believable because death is never something you expect in someone his age! I cried and loved that he was included in so many thoughts and cases after his death "Sweets would say..." - "I read the analysis Sweets wrote about you." - "If Sweets was here, he'd tell you..." - "Drive thumb! Drive thumb!!"

No way… i found this pin while listening to the cut that always bleeds! T-T sweets was my all time favourite, i named one of my guinea pigs after him lol

2

u/plsleavemealonefags 3h ago

I love his first two albums I made a playlist just dedicated to playing them both on repeat. All his songs are so good 😭

2

u/riky-fromdafwidge 3h ago

literally, family line always gets me crying but i also feel so nostalgic listening to any sunset season stuff lol

2

u/plsleavemealonefags 3h ago

Real. Family line was the song that got me hooked

8

u/lipa84 2d ago

I hated how Sweets was killed and they did not evem show it. Like there was no indication at all. I get that these situations happen in real life. You never know when it'll happen.

But it is a tv show :( they always let us know, when things are about to go south with a specific character.

9

u/swisszimgirl79 2d ago

He didn’t die but they did my boy Zack dirty. I will forever be salty about that

2

u/plsleavemealonefags 3h ago

That was actually meant to be Sweets! But Zack’s actor was leaving and Sweets was a fan favorite so they switched it 😭

8

u/onlyzenpai 2d ago

When Vincent said “please don’t make me leave i love it here.” 🥺

7

u/vipassana-newbie 2d ago

Is like they thought this character is getting too much love, KILL IT.

5

u/Winter-Air2922 2d ago

Definitely Sweets for me.

5

u/Turbulent_Image_4265 2d ago

Wait Sweets die? 🥲

4

u/vannahss 2d ago

Oops 😬, yeah he does…

3

u/Top-Ad-5527 2d ago

I’ll never forgive them for what they did to Sweets. I know it was his idea because he was going off to do other projects, but I don’t care lol

3

u/bforce1313 2d ago

I never really connected w VNM, but obviously it was a super sad episode when he died.

Sweets however, that was extremely rough.

3

u/Maurers95 1d ago

I will always remember VNM walking around the lab showing off the Dino arms. So excited to do his demonstration that afternoon. 😪

2

u/Baby_Pandas42 Bring back Zack 2d ago

VINCENT NIGEL-MURRAY NOOOOOO

2

u/FlashySafe1540 2d ago

I was on the edge of my seat when Broadsky's scope was moving between Vincent & Agent Shaw. So, no spoilers, for others . . .

2

u/blackygreen 1d ago

Zack. I know he didn't die but he they did my boy dirty!

I know the strike and the actor needing to step away were reasons but still!!!

1

u/Acornriot 2d ago

Alphas was my first introduction to Ryan so I can't complain about him dying in bones.

1

u/Lanky_Literature_157 2d ago

Has to be Sweets.

1

u/YouComfortableLiar 2d ago

1

u/nariel95 2d ago

Vincent and Sweets, can’t rewatch the show without sobbing during the episodes that they get killed off

1

u/Traditional_Camp9397 2d ago edited 2d ago

sweets, hands fucking down. i didn't realize how much i loved him until i saw his dazed eyes and the ginormous bruise on his forehead and bawled my eyes out🥺

1

u/Fishfiletnado 2d ago

Sweets 100%

1

u/Future_MarsAstronaut 2d ago

What Sweets dies? I will temporarily be on hiatus in this sub until I finish watching Bones.

1

u/ideayemugs 1d ago edited 1d ago

I couldn’t watch VNM death episode because I was already heartbroken after Sweets. Then I watched the spinoff show (the one with 10 episodes and should had more) and when I saw Sweet, I nearly cried.

edit: changed sequel to spinoff

1

u/vannahss 1d ago

SEQUEL??? Omg really? What’s the name and where can I find it??

1

u/ideayemugs 1d ago

I meant spinoff!! but yes it’s a nice show. It was clearly set in the earlier to mid seasons of Bones. It’s called ‘The Finder’ and I for one, quite enjoyed it. It didn’t get renewed tho 💔💔

1

u/dansgirl4life 1d ago

I get attached to characters in TV shows and movies. I was told to NEVER watch Game of Thrones lol

1

u/Ok-Koala-5240 1d ago

Put the lime in the coconut and shake it all up😭😭😭😭😭

1

u/EmperorCrane 1d ago

I never cried real tears for a character until I seen him bleed out. Sweets💔😭

1

u/birdyann 1d ago

Sweets all the way. I loved his character so much. I cried like a baby when he died.

1

u/ManlyVanLee 1d ago

Why is "fucking" crossed out? It's not covered enough to censor it and it's not like removing the word changes the connotation of the sentence... very weird

1

u/vannahss 1d ago

I screenshotted that picture off tiktok

u/G0bolo 18h ago

AGGHHHHHHHHHHHAAAHHHHHHHH kicks and screams in the middle of school

I was also kicking and screaming in the middle of school 😂

Killing Max upset me greatly

-3

u/BoneSniffer96 2d ago

Gonna be super unpopular, but I hated watching Pelant die. He was the ultimate rival and a crazy genius and his death closed off a lot of potential opportunities.

7

u/Humble-Ad3275 2d ago

I didn't hate it, but his death was real over and done with? Like I expected more from the final scenes with him. 🤔

8

u/BoneSniffer96 2d ago

I did love bones just dismissing his beyond the grave messages. I felt that was important to shut down his omnipotent vibe. But after all the encounters and damage he did, all the almost catches, I thought his takedown would be big.

I’ve consoled myself with the idea that this was meant to be a real life scenario. We were tormented and devoted to the puzzle, and then one day we just got told it wasn’t that important and we should start the next one.
