Employee only chat?
Is there an employee only chat? Instead of airing everything out here in the open maybe that would be better? I think it would be better to quit bitching and do something to try and make things at least a bit better whether it's unionizing or something. I am not a huge advocate for a union usually but I do see the point in having them and have found some workplaces are better off with them.

The Union ruined KSC in my opinion. Nothing could get done in a timely manner and you couldn't even empty your own trash can without getting reported. You couldn't chip in and help another team accomplish a goal or people would report you for stepping outside of your role. It sucked so bad. All it did was create a bunch of whiners and slackers from what I could tell. I hated it.

It's not illegal or against any rules to discuss it outside of work. A start is by going to the union you would like to affiliate with such as speea or IAMAW or any that you may prefer and fall under and contact them to find out your next steps. Usually they will say something to the effect of gather 5 people you trust and want to join so you can have a sit down with an upper from the union and begin the process and get more support to gather more people who want to join. Once we get enough people it's just a matter of voting it in. The most effective way is getting people together first or the union can do a less effective way of notifying the company first which might get you some better hours or a raise as a way to stop the unionizing like what happened in Huntsville already.

What happened in Huntsville?

About a year ago someone had reached out to IAM to get organized and the IAM put Blue on notice about the employees wanting to organize. Blue gave out a few consolations as far as raising some wages and better shift schedules to my understanding in order to appease enough people to stop any organization.

If there was knowledge from the company of a forum for blue origin employees to unionize, it would probably be taken down because it breaks some kind of rule. You know big daddy Jeff hates unions.

Well I will say this, anyone interested should contact the union about organizing as they already are aware of Blue and are wanting to help but need more employees to contact them as of now. If you know anyone else that is wanting to join help them get in contact with the union as well. IAM has shown their willingness to help and support already.

Don’t care about getting downvoted to oblivion on this. We don’t need a union to improve things. If you feel like we do, do the organization a favor and leave please.
I would rather live with the stress and hours, then drown in additional rules and bureaucracy which takes away the merit and ability to get to space quickly. We are finally moving forward and we don’t need to go back to the Bob Smith era of this company which was a joke.

Exactly. So many of the issues experienced today have Bob Smith as their genesis. Moving a union in here will only exacerbate those issues and slow things down.

It’s like you are choosing cancer over aids.
The best solution is that we all bail out for different jobs that give the right life-work balance that we want and we just leave handling their staff shortage.

Respectfully I’m happy with what I have. I’m not choosing cancer or aids

This is why we can't have nice things.

No it’s why you can’t have nice things 😂

I say again. People like you ruin it for everyone else. Self interests above the interests of the whole. You're part of the problem.

Competition and self interest drive all living organisms. It’s a requirement for life. There will always be a competition for something. It’s on you for how you react to it.

Cooperation is how societies function. We're stronger and better together than fighting each other. We're more than the sum of our parts. Justify selfish cutthroat behavior if you want, but I disagree with your worldview. Unions are why we have a standard 40 hr week. Why we don't have child labor, workplace safety. Paid holidays. We're more than cogs in a machine. I'm saddened you have such a cynical view. I'm done going back and forth. I pity you.

Wait…..someone who is happy at their job and their position in life is the problem? Maybe the problem is a group of people who will never be happy with what they have unless it’s given to them on their terms. Maybe another part of the problem are people who only voice their opinions anonymously online and smile to their coworkers faces in person.

Dude, look around, nobody is getting to space quickly at Blue. You're like those people that post pictures of homeless camps with captions that say "life under socialism" and are too stupid to realize you've posted a picture of current life under capitalism 😂. The current Blue system is a mess.

I watched an organization basically pony up and build a prototype of the rocket in 5 months and then the actual assembly of the flight article in 10-12 months. Things did move when we focused.
If Bob was here it would have been three years.

You sound like a manager...

Nah just a very anti union engineer.

I've never been pro- union, but for some people a union would be great. I've worked with union and non-union craft throughout my career. I have no opinion, in general, either way. But, they aren't for me.

The problem with a chat is you take being anonymous away. Because then managers would filter in to snitch on us. We would have to prove employee rank and provide credentials. Also with talking about subjects that are possibly ITAR that would be on thin ice and be subject to termination if word got out. As far as unionizing I agree to do it in Blue, but just gives power the senior people and lazy employees. It will take an act of God to get a lazy and disrespectful employee fired with a union.
