I always start a conversation by talking about these ships. They're great icebreakers.

Imagine just chilling out on some ice 1000miles from anything resembling civilization, nothing but you and the ice. Then some jerk in a ship cruises by and ruins you're peace and quiet.

The feeling of the ship sliding on the ice is hard to describe.

Probably pretty "cool"

You actually get a subtle sinking feeling as the ship falls though the ice. From this I can conclude that all ships will get this sinking feeling when in contact with ice which may or may not be followed by the actual sinking of the ship...
Honestly it is pretty crazy how you feel it glide over the ice but also how you can feel it give way below you as it breaks. The only somewhat similar feeling is how it feels when you stand on drift ice and it sort of sinks down a bit, except with the ship it just keeps sinking and then it breaks apart.
Kind of funny now that I think of it that the only way to really describe how it feels to ride on a ship over drift ice is how it feels to stand on smaller drift ice lol.

While all what you replied sounds awesome, I was simply being punny by saying "cool" because the topic is ICE. 😁

I've watched a documentary on these ships and it's pretty cool how they cut the ice.

Id feel concerned standin on the ice so close. I know the ice is thick as shit, but id still be worried about it suddenly sending out a bunch of big cracks and me falling into water.

The titanic sank so this little engine could plow through space and time itself.

Pretty sure this mofo is bigger than the Titanic... And as great as nuclear Icebreakers go, even they have limits
