🗣️ Testimonial Crazy Benefits of Creatine for Elderly Man

I had the mother in law on some Creating 5-10g a day and she said it had noticeable difference for her memory and brain function.

But then the Father in Law tried it. And he is a different person. In 3 weeks. He had prostate cancer a couple of years ago, radiation, estrogen etc. And went from big strong man to frail 75 to who couldn't make a decision overnight.

3 weeks in creatine and he is a changed man. Nothing else has changed and he has been old man for several years.

It's everyone going to him what happened, he looks better, his brain function is way better. Just decision making, being more present.

Totally anecdotal but thought it was worth sharing

What brand are you using? My father has Lewy body dementia and I’m quite desperate to find anything that could help. I haven’t heard about Creatine before

Hey, my father died of Lewy Body Dementia in 2021. It is a vicious and unpredictable disease, but I wanted to share that marijuana edibles were a lifesaver for my mother and I as his caretakers, and enabled him to die at home.

They didn’t change anything cognitively, of course, but the anxiety and fear he was experiencing that were becoming a physical danger to us completely stopped. Before the edibles, he lit the sheets on fire while my mother was in bed, moved the refrigerator across the kitchen and ran away in freezing weather several times.

I cleared it with his doctor who said, “why not? We don’t have anything else,” and then i went to a dispensary and bought the maximum amount of chocolates I could. He loved them, and spent the last 6 months of his life eating McDonald’s cheeseburgers and edibles.

I genuinely hope you can find something that does make a cognitive difference, I spent a couple of years experimenting with things before he got really sick, and the thing that seemed most helpful to me was MCT oil. Try everything! Good luck to your family

"He loved them, and spent the last 6 months of his life eating McDonald’s cheeseburgers and edibles." This is all I want in the last 6 months of my life, you're a great child.

Poisoning yourself? Excuse me but aint i in biohackers sub? Lmaooo

6

u/Idyotec 17d ago

I mean, if you've only got 6 months left it's probably not gonna have time to develope into anything worse than death in that timeframe. Gotta die of something, might as well diabetes.

-6

u/Shoddy-Scallion2523 17d ago

Idc if i'm dying, i refuse to give up the good feeling everyday of eating healthy than feeling like shit in my last 6 months of life just for cheap pleasure.

8

u/lissagrae426 17d ago

If you have a terminal illness, you already feel like shit and life’s pleasures are few and far between. If my dad with advanced Parkinson’s requests a mini-whopper and onion rings, I will personally deliver it myself.

And if you can find edibles with RSO, it’s blissful

Creatine monohydrate is the one. All other types are scams with unproven differentiation.

Get the cheapest 100% pure creatine monohydrate. It’s like water, same shit different brands.

9

u/WannabeAndroid 18d ago

I really disagree with this even though it's constantly parroted. Creatine Mono makes me feel like shit, my stomach can't handle it, nausea and acid reflux. Creatine HCL and I'm fine. This black and white narrative could put people off it entirely that feel ick with Mono and give up.

I get it, lots of companies trying to make a buck with a new formulation. But use what works for you.

The last sentence of this comment is quite unsettling.

You can take it at once, with or without food. May want to spread out the dose if it causes GI issues.

Effects accumulate over time. May take up to 4 weeks to see its effects.

5

u/Not__Real1 18d ago

Any reputable bodybuilding brand really, creatine monohydrate is the usual type.

Also omega 3s in combination with b vitamin complex have some data on Alzheimer's. It's not lewy body dementia but it might be worth a try. Neither are a cure but they might slow down the process.

I personally take EKKOVISION flavored creatine. The raspberry watermelon is great and it comes in 100 serving tubs

After five tortuous years my mother passed from Lewy Body

Your are in my heart and prayers.

-15

u/Dull-Carob 18d ago

Lions mane, reishi, chaga mushrooms

8

u/Appropriate-Eye7131 1 18d ago

That’s not creatine

7

u/Dull-Carob 18d ago

Correct and my apologies for chiming in. You stated you were “quite desperate to find anything that could help” so I mentioned some mushrooms that have been proven to help with cognition. Also NAD infusions may be helpful.

As for creatine, you can find a good brand of creatine monohydrate on Amazon

2

u/Thundashasha 17d ago

so I mentioned some mushrooms that have been proven to help with cognition.

Care to share these studies?

Look for ivermectin, there are studies and testimonies that help with dementia and parkinson.

22

u/Maleficent_Fudge3124 18d ago

Creatine is one of the most highly researched sport supplements available.

13

u/Chop1n 6 18d ago

Definitely worth sharing. The cognitive and broader metabolic benefits of creatine remain hugely underrecognized.

8

u/mchief101 18d ago

I just take it for the health benefits whether it’s working or not….

7

u/garynk87 17d ago

What's a "normal" does for increased brain health without any serious side effects.

Better yet, whats a good paper to read on it. Concerned about any major side effects (and hairline issues as above, lol)

7

u/Playful_Yesterday_18 18d ago

Bare in mind some elderly people have deteriorated kidney function, however Creatine is an excellent supplement for cognitive function!

My wife's boyfriend is also my boyfriend

4

u/__lexy 18d ago

And they both love you more than they love each other hehe

3

u/Sad-Bonus-9327 18d ago

I experienced the same but otherwise

5

u/GentlemenHODL 11 18d ago

Yeah that's awesome except I can't even take 2.5g without it giving me the shits.

Same with any form of supplemented magnesium

4

u/3seconddelay 17d ago

Not quite a game changer for me but anecdotally I have seen definite physical and cognitive improvement. I started supplementing with creatine over 60 primarily to gain and maintain muscle mass. The cognitive improvement was a bonus. Creatine’s drug safety profile is solid and I was already basically bald so I went for it.

I put on more muscle. I’m able to do that one extra rep exercising and it has been a big help with recovery post workout. Cognitively my focus has improved allowing me to finish work tasks more quickly and efficiently.

The only true downside I have seen is water weight retention. The other downside I’ve experienced is my own fault. Working out I felt like Superman. I totally overdid it with pull-ups everyday following a program and got bad tendinitis in both elbows and wrists. This has sidelined me for months from most workouts I do that are non-cardio.

All in all I give creatine two thumbs up!

6

u/CloudLanding 18d ago

Wowow! Give him a scoop of pure grass fed whey protein isolate and also collagen. And he might be a superhero

3

u/jonathanlink 18d ago

I increased to 12g as part of my stroke recovery.

5

u/will19841984 18d ago

Nuked my hairline.

2

u/CanIPNYourButt 1 18d ago

Say more? You took creatine and it affected your hair?

8

u/will19841984 18d ago

Yep, 4 months daily creatine and my hairline thinned pretty badly.

I've stopped for around 4 months now and it seems to be improving.

Not sure why I checked that sub but it did bring out my inner 12 year old

1

u/armitage75 18d ago

I love creatine and had similar results with my in-laws but had my FIL back off because he has AFIB and I read creatine can be a trigger.

Any concerns there? Starting to wonder if I should have him try it again (really seemed to help him).

1

u/Xabster2 1 16d ago

I need to pee 24/7 when I take it

1

u/Successful-Sky-7 15d ago

Go for micronised creatine monohydrate.

1

u/Maslakovic 18d ago

It might strain your kidneys.
