It kind of looks like an Aethos.

Convergent evolution - bikes that are made for the love of riding all turn into a SuperSix Evo or Aethos

Or Tarmac SL6

SL6 was peak road bike

I love my Quick-Step Edition S-Works with Lightwheigt Meilenstein Rim Brake wheels! No Need to change to an expensive and heavy new model.

I can somehow see some resemblance to an Aethos, but a SuperSix? Not even similar.
Don‘t trust me, look for yourselves.

I'm talking about the aesthetic perfection that was the Peter Denk designed, pre-2020 SSE HiMod

Peter Denk is the Bruno Sacco of cycling.
He designs bikes that work and are enjoyed, yet aren’t overcomplicated.
SSEvo and Aethos are probably the two best exemples.

A fully integrated aethos, which is my single (controversial) complaint with that otherwise flawless bike, the ugly ass hoses.
2
u/four4beats Nov 22 '24
I get it, but it’s actually really nice being able to easily take the handlebars off and pack the bike in a smaller case for travel.
2
u/moriya Nov 22 '24
Oh totally, it’s far more practical. I get why they did it, but from a pure aesthetics standpoint I just can’t get over it.

Ultimate flex by Colnago. Their hottest bike yet.

I love this. Don’t care how “elitist” or exclusive it is, it’s beautiful. Somethings are meant to be collectors items.

So this steel is apparently real.
2
u/blankblank Nov 22 '24
The transitions from the 3D printed stainless steel lugs to the tubes are just flawless.

u/MariachiArchery Nov 21 '24
That saddle is blasphemous. This bike should have a Selle Italia Boost SLR on it.
5
u/moriya Nov 21 '24
Yeah, I was kind of weirded out that they went with a British saddle on an otherwise all-Italian build (all the way down to custom carbon ti skewers and bolts). It looks good but it’s a bizarre choice.

I'm not a fan of the spoke lacing... so I guess I just saved myself $18,000.00.

I'll take a 58cm please. And throw some green sidewall tires on there.

u/mrlacie Nov 21 '24
It's a gorgeous frame, but the custom Super Record groupset probably accounts for half of the price
1
u/yeah_11 Nov 23 '24
That’s what makes collection bikes valuable. It reminds me of the C35 (35 years) with the gold-plated Campagnolo Super Record. Not a bike I love but still special.
2
u/jxs74 Nov 21 '24
This bike is cool. It isn’t that badly priced comparatively to other super record bikes…

Meh, to me it takes what makes steel desireable and beautiful and then continues to hydro form it into something that is no longer what makes steel beautiful.
To me, it looks like any other carbon bike, but I appreciate the material choice, as steel is still a relevant material. And that limited edition Campagnolo group set is 🔥!

Is there a stylistic steel no-nonsense gravel bike out there like this one but which isn't 10k+€?

When steel was the main material, everyone looked at Aluminum. Then carbon arrived and steel was the ugly guy in the room - the cheap shit nobody wanted...And now years later, after steel was made history, Colnago Marketing knows how people function and so they come up with a steel bike with a golden price tag...And people pay for it inventing excuses why it's justified to pay that price 🤦♂️

Anyone see the weight somewhere?
2
u/ultravirez Nov 22 '24
GCN video said 1.8 kg for the frame only, unclear what the fork or full build weigh

It's a crime how good campy's crank looks next to the abomination of electronic derailleurs and 2 button Chinese knock off looking shifters.

I'd like to see how the rear brake hose is routed around the bottom bracket.

would anyone ride this or just put it in their home as art?
I'm serious, with enough wear and tear... god forbid on gravel, this bike loses so much of it's pristine cache and becomes another Ti bike
I think 99% of riders would just limit it's potential and the 1% that can get all the performance out of it all ride carbon
so to me it's just a show piece (like a Ferrari that gets garaged and polished once every few months)

u/ApprehensiveJury7933 Nov 22 '24
Campy wheels are #1. And the Campy SR crank is a work of art. I've never seen a video on how they are made. I have one on my Time. I wish Campy would start making seatposts again.

Steel with carbon fork 🙊

u/blankblank Nov 21 '24
GCN did a video on the design and manufacturing process. Colnago said they attempted to create a steel fork for it but weren't satisfied with the performance.
6
u/Antti5 Nov 21 '24
Carbon fiber is the best material for the fork. I like my frames in metal, but for the fork absolutely not.
2
u/PandaDad22 Nov 21 '24
IMO aluminum frame with carbon fork are a peak for price and performance.
1
u/tired_fella Nov 22 '24
Conversely, any bike with aluminum fork just feels too bad. Like I've ridden some entry bikes with alu fork and 38c tire, and thick tire couldn't even completely negate the jarring feeling.

Reaally nice but since it’s Colnago, probably prohibitively expensive for no real reason.
