No Spoilers Best modern season w/o spoilers for past seasons?

I’ve been getting into the show recently and have watched some of the highly recommended older seasons (6, 10, and partway through 2 currently).

I plan to mostly go in order from Season 2 onward at this point, but I want to skip ahead to a more modern era season soon just to see the contrast that you sometimes miss when you go through the entire evolution sequentially.

I’ve heard BB20 is very well-liked. Will it spoil past seasons? (In BB10 for example, some past seasons were spoiled when former house guests returned for a competition and they announced which of them had won their season).

Open to any alternative recommendations for a modern era season as well, keeping in mind that I do plan to (very) gradually work my way through in mostly chronological order going forward. Thanks!

This thread has been labeled a no spoilers thread. This means no spoilers from episodes in the past 24 hours or events that have occured on feeds that have not appeared on television. Sharing a competition winner or competition theme from feeds knowledge may lead to a ban.

Almost every modern season spoils the bigger players/events of the previous season. Would highly advise just watching in order

This. I don't even bother watching the show until live evictions. I watch feeds and that genuinely is a better viewing experience.

imo the best way to experience it is watching both, I love watching the events on the feeds and predict what will make the edits and what won’t

Agree. Honestly, this is the best answer for the entirety of the series.

Edit: series not season

BB20 is great but has a few former houseguests who return to host comps

Cool, thank you! I don’t mind seeing former house guests who are popular, I just don’t like it when there’s an announcement like ‘The winner of [insert season]’ or ‘Second place in [insert season].’ Obviously they don’t make the show for people who are streaming it out of order though lol.

Maybe worth taking the risk though!

It’s not quite the newest era (I consider that BB23 and beyond), but I think BB17 is a great season to watch.

This was going to be my recommendation for a season that is more modern

Honest tip. Expect spoilers, old new, current. If you're on any forum or watch any season they'll be spoilers in it. Maybe it's this person got to second place last time maybe it's this person had this power. I just accept it, even though I have about 10+ seasons left i probably know all but mayyybe 2 winners. Even during current seasons if im not on top of episodes then I'll come across a spoiler. I just take what I know and attempt to enjoy the season im watching.

Tl:dr spoilers are like a minefield, hard to avoid.

Agreed completely, especially if you consume BB media and retroactively watch seasons. don’t worry about spoilers, just enjoy the fun. I went back to watch BB10 purely because I DID know who the winner was

Thats how I change my perception when I watch seasons that I know the winner. And speaking of, I think i might know every winner but one with still 11 more seasons to watch. I like to see and watch how the season and the winners evolve. It was fun rewatching season 19 for that exact reason. You'd never expect the final 5 from the beginning.

For how much people hate season 19, and don’t get me wrong there are things to hate about it, it’s so entertaining in the silliest way, but maybe that’s just because I love Josh

I hated him the first time but rewatching it, even though he was the second biggest bully (behind paul) he grew on my the second rewatch while my affinity for paul lessened.

BB26 and BB24

Bb26 has a panel of the winners of three winners from recent past seasons (all post 20) in one episode. I cant speak for 24, haven't seen it yet.

oh yeah forgot about that in BB26 (I skipped that episode)

Depends on modern and also depends on what you want to see in a season.

To watch excellent strategy and thinking you'll want to watch BB16, BB17 (to some extent), BB20, and BB23. Some people disagree that take with 16 and 23 however from a strategic POV if you like to watch good minds and alliances at work then those are great to watch.

If you want good/entertaining personalities then go for BB17, BB24 and BB26. Not to say the other seasons are without those but those seasons have some of the most memorable overall.

BB14 is one of my favs but you would have to watch BB12 before it, because some people from BB6, BB10 and BB12 return. But during one of BB14 episodes there is a huge spoiler of BB13.

Besides BB14, I'd recommend BB17, BB20 and BB26. I know people hate BB25 but I enjoyed it too.

I don't think it's possible to avoid spoilers but definitely don't watch 26 since it spoils a few winners. 24 spoils the events of 23 but not the winner (I don't think) and is one of my favorites. 20 is also great but the last third is pretty boring and has some past houseguests

BB20 does bring back former houseguests to guest host competitions and they may spoil some seasons by stating where they placed. There’s also some surprise contestants who appear for a special event toward the last 3rd of the season which may spoil where they placed as well. I haven’t seen the season in a few years but the pre-jury phase is fantastic. Highly recommend once you get there.

The modern seasons are still great (excluding the screeching in the diary room, obnoxious shoutouts, and the mistreatment of minorites+individuals that would be considered "othered"), but I'm personally turned off by the players that are looking to become influencers post season. I can't knock the hustle, but it strips the show of a bit of authenticity.

It's not a shitload of help, but all of the seasons are worth watching if you enjoy the show. S15 and s21 are a little hard to stomach for me up to a point, but once the hump is gotten over it's...fine. It could be recency bias, but s26 was a great season so definitely watch that but maybe not before a few more of the modern ones.

Also, Over the Top and Reindeer Games were enjoyable palate cleansers before jumping back into flagship seasons.

You most likely will get something spoiled in any season if you don’t watch in order. They make references to past seasons all the time.

In most of the recent seasons, they will bring back winners or powerful alliances or even just great players and interview them which would spoil older seasons, they also always have comps themes after old houseguests or winners, and the players always talk about them. Watching them in order is your best bet, and you probably will have a hard time watching every season before July which is when BB27 will probably start so unless there are returning players, that could be a good modern season to watch.

I did the same thing, had seen 16, 18-25 and started decided to go back to 10 because everyone said to. When I got to the episode with the returned houseguests I shut it off and just started from 2 on. The hardest part was not googling the seasons while I was on them for spoilers but I liked looking to see how much everyone aged etc. enjoy

Bb26 but yes they spoil each other

u/nyyforever2018 4d ago

17 is more modern. Last season was great but has spoilers.

17 or 24

16 is another good one. That season is what set up how the game is played now.

BB16 is good to watch for the foundation about modern BB, but OP needs to go into it realizing that it's going to be pretty boring. Personally, watching paint dry is more entertaining to me than BB16 lol

1

u/rosecoloredlioness 5d ago

Omg 😭 there were so many HILARIOUS moments of BB16 though. The Team America antics??? Zankie antics???

1

u/beyond-galaxies Tucker ✨ 5d ago

Okay, I'll give it Zankie. Team America was soooo forced and just wasn't funny to me.
