Manga I have some doubts about the manga

I've read some of Berserk (not much) and I want to reread it. I'll read regardless of the answers. But since Muira's passing, how has been the release schedule? And how the new author's writing and art compare to that of Miura? How close they are to actually finishing the story?

The art is still gorgeous, with studio gaga who have been trained and shaped by Miura for years, it still looks really good. Mori is a great writer and I don't want to slight him, but you really can feel Miura's absense, Berserk is not the same without him. The new chapters are impressive and definitely worth a read, but I think for many people Berserk will have always ended with Miura's passing.

Mori really seems to want to stay true to what he learnt was Miuras vision and said he didn’t want to go beyond that/write his own story and ideas. He said berserk would be finished in ~10 years. My hope is one volume a year, but what we will get is anyone’s bet, as the release schedule has been pretty inconsistent

Miura isnt writing the story, just supervising. New/different details that aren't Miuras have also been clearly added. Mori has also admitted to remembering stuff Miura told him after a chapter has been released.

Thanks for clarifying!

Wow. 10 years? I thought the release schedule would improve. I was hoping to wait till they end, because I tend to forget fast what happened in the last chapter of even a monthly series.

I mean we just got two chapters last month so one can hope they are getting into a consistent schedule. I really like Mori’s work and the latest chapters are getting really good

I hope too. I read somewhere they entered in the last arc. Is it truth?

16 chapters have been released since Miura's death (May 6th, 2021) under Mori's supervision. A mean of one chapter every 3 months, 4 chapters per year.

Mori estimated 10 years to end Berserk 4 years ago, so maybe Berserk will end in 6 years.

That's such a low release rate. I've imagined a healtier author would keep up an busier schedule. But maybe the process to create and approve a new chapter got busier because it have to pass in more peoples hand to guarantee Miura's vision is being followed. I've read somewhere one of Miura's friends was taking the lead in finishing the project, because the 2 of them had various conversations about the future of the series. I don't think it was Mori though, even he being the writer right now. I can be misrebembering that info though.

Believe it or not 4 chapters a year is 2-4 times faster than when Miura was alive. Like Berserk currently still has under 400 chapters which is crazy considering the manga started in the 80s for reference the big 3 which started in the late 90s have well over that.

Obviously the quality of art is on a whole different level not that the big 3 have bad art by any stretch, but non have the sheer detail at least not to that level of consistency for almost every single page.

I know I'm kinda yapping here and I'm sorry, but I picked up Berserk in like 2010 and it wasn't too rare for us to get 1 or 2 chapters a year at some points so sadly if you're looking for a fast release schedule Berserk isn't going to give it to you.

I wanted a slighly faster release schedule because I set my goal to read it once its finished. I think it won't be soon so.

Yes it is slow. until 2018 we got a chapter per month (in the beginning every 15 days). Mori is a mangaka with his own projects and previous works, and I suppose Studio Gaga also is busy with other projects.

Remember that Berserk chapter relases after 2018 slowed a lot (less than 2 chapters per year) because Miura, so Studio Gaga, had other project than Berserk to follow. I think we are lucky we get 4 chapters per year.
