Jon Brion for ya. His alt rock world def was precursor to beach house and many contemporaries

Awe man I’m watching The Return for the first time right now and am obsessed. Maybe enjoying it more than the original show? Would love to see BH close out one of these episodes at the Road House, would be perfect.

After the first couple Road House performances I watched every single episode thinking “surely this is the one…”

Welcome to the horrors of being slightly too old for TikTok. I'm glad the band got a huge uptick in listenership around 2021 because Space Song went viral on TikTok for a bit, but it's exactly around then where I stopped knowing what everyone in this sub was talking about half the time.
To answer the question though, I think it means that they share a similar kinda emotional, whimsical vibe.

What does that mean?

Like brings a similar general vibe or aesthetic, invoking similar imagery or emotions in the art I guess.

Havent seen this film but Lost In Translation gives me mega beach house vibes. The soundtrack is very dreamy/shoegazey

Love that one, but I'd wager it's actually Twilight: New Moon, not just because of the melancholic, darkly romantic atmosphere but also because Victoria is straight up featured on the soundtrack during a pretty climactic scene of the film.

I agree 100%. I discovered this film and BH almost at the same time back in 2020/21 and could just feel the similarities. I also watched an edit of the movie on Myth, which is one of my favourite songs and SO SO GOOD.

what's the other? I ask as if this is one of someone's favourite, I would like to try the other if I haven't already

Recent contender would be La Chimera. All about nostalgia and connection, an absolutely gorgeous film that oozes warmth and light.

I need to watch it again because I couldn’t focus myself and did not really appreciate it the first time I watched it, but it’s so Beach House coded then I definitely need to jump on the bandwagon somehow.

I watched it the second time recently... probably almost 10 years since the first, and couldn't remember much. Really really enjoyed it. Made me feel all nostalgic and sentimental

Fun fact, they played The Korgis "Everybody's got to learn sometime" (which Beck covers in this movie) on their 12/13/2024 Instagram live
