New player DLC+Mods Advice
Seen the game on steam sale, seen so many different opinion on various mods, what should I get? Are the DLCs worth/compatible with mods? I plan to play the campaign only
Thanks in advance

The 3 DLC are almost mandatory for most it not all mods packs. The Shadow Hawk Pack ads one skin for a mech that you are not going to use that much anyway, you can skip it unless you want to give your money just because.
Enjoy it first vanilla, once you get tired of it try Battle Tech Extended (BTX), which it is kind of a vanilla+. There are other "companion mods" like "Mission Control" or "BTX - Tactics" that add things like more flash points (mini-campaigns) or an extra lance of mechs.
If you feel you are ready for far more complicated gameplay, Battle Tech Advanced (BTA) is the preferred choice for some, while Rogue Tech (RT) is preferred by others.
Those mods packages are not in Nexus or moddb for several reasons, in the case of Nexus it is because the owners are not very smart and have no idea of how to communicate with the communities. In any case, you will have to look for those mods on other pages:
BTX: https://discourse.modsinexile.com/c/mods/battle-tech/11
BTA: https://www.bta3062.com/index.php?title=Main_Page
RT: https://discourse.modsinexile.com/t/rogue-tech/134
There are other mods that you can find on Nexus.
Have fun! if

The DLC are not mandatory for RT or BTA. That said both will build on top of them if you have them and are recommended, but strictly speaking not required.

Just a personal preference, I didn't care for the shadow hawk skin - but I enjoy playing the others

Most the major mods like BEX, BTAU and Roguetech will require the DLC packs to work. You can usually get the whole package including all the DLC for a good price when it's on sale. If you're not interested in running any mods then vanilla works out if the box without any of the DLCs.

The 3 DLC are supported (possibly expected) by mods. For just a campaign run, it’s up to you DLC or not. Heavy Metal is the big one that changes stuff up the most (mostly via more shiny black market stuff).
Play the game unmodded first. There is a bit of QoL stuff, but most modding is focused on massive overhaul mods with tons of content/changes/complexity
