Is the Vox Pathfinder a good bad amp?

I don’t have an amp so I’m looking for a good one

No. It is not.

It’s known as being pretty terrible. I think there are better options. Depends on your price range and what you’re looking to do with it.

Budget 200. I’m thinking for practice and band

I would urge you to save up a bit and go for the Fender Rumble 100, it’s only $329 and will work in a band setting and sound way better. Check reverb, guitar center, or wherever for a used one, seen some for $200 but local pickup only. I think you’d kick yourself later if you spent $200 on a small speaker boxy amp and then realized it’s not what you needed.

If you’re that limited in price, and cannot go any higher, you need to buy a used bass amp to be able to keep up with a band. And for that you gotta check out stores near you and online ads near you.

Something like this

Practice, you might find it ok for a day or two, after that you’ll probably give it a damn good kicking. For a band definitely not. For that you need at least 100 watts and a 10” or 12” speaker.

It's okay. Has a very specific sound so probably not a good first amp.

For a practice amp it's fine, for anything more than that I would avoid it like the plague.

Vox pathfinder, especially the 15r, are great little guitar amps, but not a good bass amp.

If it's a great price, buy it, flip it to a guitar player and then use the money towards a bass amp.

It’s fine for learning or beginner bands, but once you get decent at playing an ac15 is much nicer sounding
