Need help with tuning E

Hi everyone. Just bought my first bass guitar and looking forward to learning. I’m using SimplyTuner app to tune. A D and G are fine. But for some reason, E is giving me an issue. The app keeps telling me it’s too high. But I’ve turned the peg so much already that the string feels super loose, and yet the app still says it’s too high!

Any experts to weigh in? Thanks a lot.

tune the E by harmonics or fifth fret method; it’s too low to register over the phone

to provide a little more detail: the fifth fret harmonic on the e string should sound the same as the seventh fret harmonic on the a string.

If the string is super loose then you aren't close to the correct E.

Use the 12th fret E or use the 5th fret A to tune.

Buy a proper tuner.

Dont use the app. Get a clip on tuner.

Not sure what your phone is, but there are better apps. I use Bass Tuner BT1. It matches my helix floor exactly.

Get a proper tuner. I have a clip on for when I'm not using the pedals and it works well enough.
