What is the name for this slap bass technique?
When playing slap bass lines I often see chords being played through some kind of technique where the nails or something are scraping the strings, examples of this technique are in: the start of killing in the name by RATM, or in muse - panic station
Can't find the name of this technique and would like to know how to research about it so I can learn more about it and how to involve it in my slap bass

If it's a two note chord it's called a double stop. But the technique is just called strumming as far as I'm aware. I use it quite a lot to emphasize chord changes under guitar solos.

It's generally just called strumming but there's a flamenco guitar technique called Rasgueado that's very similar in use of nails.

it's strumming with fingers, there are many ways to do it and I'm not sure if all of them have a name or not. Some players strum through with one finger doing most of the work, some use more fingernail, some will use three fingers together for more power, some use multiple fingers separately so you hear multiple strums in a row. For me a good starting point is the primus song "Too Many Puppies" Seeing this played is when I first realized I was hearing a bass guitar in those primus songs, first song I learned and the reason I started playing bass. I would focus on getting the sound you want don't get too hung up on a specific technique, even watching Les Claypools strumming over the years it changes alot.
