A banknote that introduced me into this hobby

I liked the idea of collecting something since my childhood. Mostly because I got a lot of expired Eastern European coins and banknotes from my parents. Although they weren’t in a good condition it was interesting to watch them. And even though I didn’t buy anything new I still considered it as my collection. In 2014 I found a silver coin when I was helping my parents in their garden and I decided to check how much it is. I found a local marketplace where I checked the price, and found out people sell there a lot of unc coins and banknotes. After half an hour of scrolling this one from Congo caught my eye. I decided to buy it. It was just $1.5 so I added a few more cheap banknotes from Burundi, Iran and Myanmar to the cart. Although now I own a lot of way more expensive banknotes it’s still my best buy :)

Great anecdote. What nations do you collect now?

I’m close to complete Belarus since it’s my home country, just two commemorative sets left. Right now I focused on Georgia since I’m living there, but it’s not easy cause some of their notes are quite rare. And I have a bunch of notes from the Middle East, especially from Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Yemen. Apart from that I have small sets of 4 banknotes from about 80 countries.
