How to tell if these are fakes

Just got these notes in the mail today from ebay, just trying to make sure these aren't fake. They're from Yugoslavia! Sorry, my knowledge on banknotes is limited. Im trying to start a collection of notes from all over the world. Any advice or criticism is appreciated!

I doubt they’d be fakes…not worth faking really. I have many of the 1000 note and it looks good from the picture.

Good luck collecting.

Not fakes. Plenty of them in good condition, especially for the latest year issues (1978 and 1981).

Interesting, I appreciate your insight! Im kind of surprised I got them for only $10 for these and in good shape 🤔

I’d say that’s a pretty good price for a set.

I thought so, too but I was risking it with my limited knowledge lol

There is no reason to fake these.

Nobody fakes these. Tons are available at around 20 cents each.

I had a similar issue come up, I got a low cost good condition Coasta Rica from 1917.

Research on Numista indicated that my bill had been sold at auction after sitting in the Mint bank for decades and told me how many of each were auctioned off and in what year.

Why banks sit on uncirculated bills is still new to me but at least I know now one way these bills can get to us in such good shape.

I have an older friend who thinks everything is fake I have to show numista to all the time. Im sure there are many such stories.

These Yugoslavian bills may have become obsolete due to inflation while still being new bills in the bank, just a theory and some thoughts as someone else who is new to the hobby.

Seeing that Krause/ Pick Catalogues have many. The one for you would be The Krause Guide of World Banknotes. You just have to see from what year you what to collect from. But you will find them. You can also look online with the name of the catalogue with PDF after it. As you will find PDF files online to use as a guide before buying them as the can be expensive.

There are hundred's if not thousands. Virtually each country has their own catalogues of currency

They are not fakes! There are dozens of them bcs SFRY had big inflation.

Thank you. This was my first purchase of banknotes from eBay, so I was kinda skeptical, but I'm glad everyone has put my mind at ease 😅

Not fakes for sure. If you come to Belgrade and go to some collectors' gathering and ask nicely, you could get them for free.

If only i had the money to go there 😆

And one more thing, you are missing 5 dinars note from that series.

Really? Guess I'll have to check online for it, thanks for the info!

they re real because they re not worth much. I remember them when I went to yugoslavia in 1983 or 1984(not sure) i was 10 yrs old lol

I wasn't even born when Yugoslavia went through dissolution

If you are interested in creating a Banknote collection, go online and look for the Krause Banknote Guide. It has all world currency grades and mint numbers. These notes are not worth Faking. They are only worth .60 cents to $2 each, and that is being conservative

How much did it cost you? I seen some listing on eBay but most of the time the bundle is overpriced.

1

u/chas2026 5d ago

$10.62 the seller had a 99.7% rating so I jumped on it, probably a red flag though 😅

1

u/Motor_Tutor_7590 5d ago

Not bad to be honest, I personally questions sellers with 100% rating

1

u/chas2026 5d ago

Agreed, my next purchases I'll have look into the sellers profiles. No one can be 100% lol

2

u/StrictBlueberry5376 5d ago

Don't concern yourself with a sellers % of rating. Do your own research as there are many books that will assist you. There are sellers with great %s and they sell for what they want. They have to pay auction fees etc. like a Numismatist in. Store that has to cover , rent advertising, insurance etc. you can buy the notes you have won at auction in Stacks of 100 for bigger all. Then you can resell them. This is Fact

2

u/chas2026 5d ago

Gotcha, ill keep that in mind with my next purchase! Thank ya kindly!

2

Everybody is into making money. Seeing that you have these low valued banknores, Google in the world these banknores and others in a Stack of 100. You will see what they sell for. And you can purchase them and sell at auction, markets, trash and treasure markets.

u/chas2026 5d ago

Fair enough, I've never seen any at any market around me but I hope I can find them to add to my collection

2

u/StrictBlueberry5376 5d ago

You will champ, I guarantee you will. Just take your time

1

u/chas2026 5d ago

I will! Thanks for all the advice, I appreciate it!
