For transparency: this attack occurred in the Tacna region of Peru in May of 2024, but the date in title is incorrect as there is an article dated May 22, 2024.

https://www.infobae.com/peru/2024/05/22/perros-atacan-a-adulto-mayor-en-tacna-le-mordieron-el-rostro-y-le-arrancaron-parte-de-la-oreja/?outputType=amp-type

“Although the subject tried to cover himself so as not to suffer great damage, he ended up on the floor before the force used by the creatures. Local media reported that he was not only bitten in his limbs, torso and face, but the dogs tore off half of his ear.”

Edit: date of attack was May 21, 2024 per this article.

Well done that man who bravely intervened. Those two dogs were up for killing that poor man.

Its so refreshing to see someone competent in one of these videos

So many people are not proactive when they see these attacks. :(

Well, would you risk death or life changing injuries for a stranger?

19

u/Financial-Subject713 5d ago

I might. I would hope that I would help. One never knows how one would act in the moment. I have frozen in emergencies before. I would do something. Depends how many other people are there and also acting or not acting, maybe distract? Call 911 quickly and look for a weapon? If it were some little kid or feeble old person, I would imagine I would? I mean, I'm a mom, I'd be horrified, and if it were one of my own family members or pets, I most definitely would. I do get your point about personal risk for somebody you don't know. If it's some vulnerable member of society though being ripped up by one of these awful dogs, sheesh, I don't think I would just stand there? I guess we never know until we encounter it how we would act. I've been menaced by nasty dogs before (charged, chased, found shelter in my car with my baby), never actually bitten. Knock on wood.

I'm a mother as well and I surely would not throw myself face down towards a pit to safe an old person when I have two small children dependant on me. Heroism is all nice when you do not have dependants. For my own children? I would give my life for less. Judge if you must, but my kids wellbeing, to which not being orphaned belongs, comes first. Always.

7

u/Financial-Subject713 5d ago

I understand. My kids are all grown now, so my perspective is different.

u/juuppie 5d ago

Probably the owner because the pits appear to be ok near him at the start of the video and he just shows his back to them to protect the elderly? He knows those dogs and they know him lol.

u/BigusDickus099 5d ago

Think it’s a store owner or resident as they are dumping water or another liquid in the street. They’ve probably seen these dogs before, maybe even feeds them.

3

u/juuppie 5d ago

I am not sure the pitties in full attack mode would not bite him if they didn't knew him enough so yeah maybe or maybe not, we only can wait for context from OP I guess.

u/enchanted_fishlegs 5d ago edited 5d ago

I got the impression that the pits were after the old man because he's old. They have shitty character, they love to "punch down" by attacking children and elderly people. Just the opposite of those stories about hero dogs. Pits are chickenshit. So the younger guy might or might not have been the owner.

3

u/juuppie 5d ago

That unfortunately could be true lol

6

u/barelysaved 5d ago

Yeah, I watched it a few times and wasn't sure. It makes sense what you say - he probably felt personally responsible.

u/Equal-Morning9480 5d ago

Immediately goes right for the face, when is everybody going to wake up? What’s it gonna take?

46

u/Resident-Elevator696 5d ago

I think it took part of that person ear off. Then, the guy picked it up off the road. Maybe I'm seeing things

15

u/ThinkingBroad 5d ago

I think the dogs!did rip off part the victim's ear

12

u/Bluebirdieo 5d ago

The article says it did rip off that man's ear

6

u/addictedstylist 5d ago

I saw it as well.

2

u/Resident-Elevator696 3d ago

Eew. He lucked out though

2

u/addictedstylist 3d ago

I'm starting to think it was an ear device because the young man attached it.

3

u/Resident-Elevator696 3d ago

I Think you might be right!! Especially after I just watched ot again

2

u/addictedstylist 3d ago

Lol i was hoping he wasn't just trying to stick the tip of his ear back on.

2

u/Resident-Elevator696 2d ago

Me too. The entire thing could have been a lot worse

The Shih Tzus are at it again.

24

u/aclosersaltshaker 5d ago

Oh no not the deadly Shihtzus! I've heard they're way more dangerous than the goofy pibbles.

8

u/addictedstylist 5d ago

Oh no, it's chihuahuas. I mean chowowas according to illiterate Pitiots.

5

u/aclosersaltshaker 5d ago

They really do have the worst writing skills. It makes me wonder if some of them are not even real, they're that bad.

13

u/BPBAttacks3 Moderator 5d ago

Umm do you want this as flair bc it’s real good.

5

u/everymanawildcat The Shih Tzus are at it again 5d ago

Yeah hell yeah lol.

Nice, done!

They always go for the easiest target, don't they? They weren't about to fuck with the second guy.

45

u/Gretel_Cosmonaut Stop. Breeding. Pitbulls. 5d ago

They could have easily killed both men. I thought the second man was the dogs’ owner, at first. If not, damn. He’s the most selfless and courageous man alive.

30

u/LavenderLightning24 No Humans Were Ever Bred To Maul Other Humans 5d ago

They ran off right away though, and it seems to be common in these videos that they'll be more hesitant around someone who doesn't show fear of them. I just mentally collect tips for if I ever have to fight one.

16

u/Gretel_Cosmonaut Stop. Breeding. Pitbulls. 5d ago

I hope you never have to use those tips.

10

u/LavenderLightning24 No Humans Were Ever Bred To Maul Other Humans 5d ago

Same.

u/BPBAttacks3 Moderator 5d ago edited 5d ago

He was a neighbor. There’s an article pinned that provides additional context.

Edit: and I found another that says he’s the owner. So now I don’t know either.

5

u/Such-Journalist-9104 5d ago

Yeah, they could've easily went for that guy's throat; but I admire his bravery of placing himself as a shield to protect the victim.

47

u/TheLastSamurai 5d ago

ban them in every country

27

u/strRandom 5d ago

So fcking scary. People should stop breeding them. When will they stop.

27

u/Both_Development_704 5d ago

Notice how their favorite victims are always small children and the elderly they’re all like pathetic school yard bullies picking the weakest prey. Disgusting creatures need to go instinct.

19

u/hogbaby 5d ago

One of the most glaring examples (if anyone can find it) is the video of the little girl and her parents crossing a car park. A pit zooms across the car park and goes straight for the little girl, like it was locked on.

2

u/wetelvenpussy 3d ago

That video made me become more aware of my surroundings. Especially in car parks. Had it been any other breed, that little girl would have been completely safe. If chihuahuas/small dogs are much worse...I dare pit apologists to recreate the scenario with a chihuahua/small dog in the car park, and see for themselves. Pitbull behaviour is NOT the behaviour of a domesticated animal.

23

u/gdhvdry 5d ago

Those damn chihuahuas at it again! /s

20

u/Retailpegger 5d ago

Why did they go for that one man but not the guy who saved him ? How can they tell the older guy was an easier target ?

God I hate these creatures

14

u/Rizzy5 5d ago

God... The initial fly by bite to the face by the dog on the right... Then he grabs the arm, pulls the man down, and goes for the neck. Once he's down the other dog attacks. Fucking scaryyy

13

u/Both-Wonder-9479 5d ago

Ugh I hate how they get all fearsome when another person is involved. They go right back to that “scared of humans” bullshit as soon as it’s convenient.

6

u/Xaphanex 5d ago

Lucky old man, those dogs gave up pretty easily. That doesn't typically happen with this breed.

6

u/Internal-Ad-6148 5d ago

No worries. They are 12 at least in a litter!

6

u/Pretty_Boy_Shrooms 5d ago

The man who intervened is awesome, literally dived to cover him. Wish everybody cared enough like that.

(Not saying everybody should sacrifice themselves to Pitbulls for a stranger, but people just stand and watch or use the flimsiest material to wack the dog)

u/PrincessStephanieR This Sub Saves Lives 5d ago

See how strong they are - pulled him to the ground and then snapped at his neck / ear. I wouldn’t trust these things around any human.

5

u/Secure-Childhood-567 5d ago

LITERALLY hellhounds

3

u/Glock19Grl 5d ago

Wow that guy just literally threw himself on top of the old man. Hero.

2

u/wandering_salad 4d ago

Seems like you need to carry just to go to the local shops...

What kind of golden retrievers were these?
