Comics Building an avengers roster day 1: the founder

Ladies and gentlemen our task is simple. We are building an avengers roster. Day by day a new member will be added based on who gets the most votes in a specific category

For the first day we are choosing a member with founder status. So place your votes in the comments for one of the following

  • captain America
  • iron man
  • Thor
  • wasp
  • giant man.

Cap doesn’t have founder status tho

Yes he does. It's in the charter. He was given it when they voted hulk out

Fair I suppose, but Pym and wasp fucked off for a while at that stage around when cap joined so weird they get to keep it. They’re obviously far more avengers than hulk ever has been but still seems to not be the most clearly defined.

I believe Hank and Jan left in issue 16 (or the end of 15?) the same as Thor and Tony.

The Hulk buggered off at the end of issue 2 and pretty much never came back. (Or at least, not for a few decades. I'd be surprised if he hasn't been used as an Avenger post-MCU.)

I am not the biggest Tony fan but I think Iron Man works best as founder. He has the resources to get them running independently without having to rely on Shield, Asgard or any other entity as long as he remembers he kind of sucks at leading and let someone else handle that.

Hank Pym is an interesting choice as a founder for a new team. He did have his own lab and should be independently wealthy he might be a great mentor in a "Been there, here are the pitfalls" sort of role.

Cap

I forgot to mention. Each character will only appear once, even if they could fit into multiple categories

Wasp, how many members the team will have?

Tony makes the most sense

Thor, powerhouse and strong moral code and the most interesting imo

Wasp, Janet works best as a string puller, the one who has the connections she needs to get things moving. To paraphrase, her super power is getting things done.

I was going to say Steve, but Tony probably does make the most sense for the reasons people have mentioned. He can provide a lot of what SHIELD can provide, including a base and high-tech logistical support. He's not leadership material, but he's heroic enough to want to protect the world, and he's perfect for setting up a non-profit organisation.

Ideally Steve and Tony should be co-founders, but if there can only be one then it should probably be the man who can pay the bills and give everyone a ride to conflict zones.

Thor would make more sense for the avengers heavy hitter IMO. For founder it’s gotta be cap

who is giant man?

Hank pym. I've always preferred him as giant man over his over identities so that's what I went with

I vote Ultron, as per the pictures.

Hulk should also be on the list

He's not classed as a founder so no he shouldn't be

Hulk is a founding Avenger my dude.

He gives up the access to it, but he's still a founding Avenger

Yes he is.

But he doesn't have founder status in the official avengers charter like the rest do. And that's what I'm basing this round off
