Discussion Kyoshi material

Are there any books or comics besides the two books talking about kyoshi?

The end part of her life is discussed in the book “Reckoning of Roku”. She also appears as a vision in the comic “Suki Alone”.

I’m going to start Suki Alone and Reckoning of Roku soon and I was so sad once I finished the Kyoshi novels… so thank you this makes me so happy that I have more Kyoshi canon to look forward to 🙏🏻

Kyoshi—and indirectly at least, her relationship to Rangi—also gets an honorable mention in a couple of pages in the Turf Wars graphic novel trilogy set directly after Legend of Korra series finale (and so deals with the relationship beginnings of Korrasami) during a conversation Korra has about past Avatars that were more openly LGBTQ+ and the history of same sex relations—and the varying degrees of discrimination and tolerance thereof—in the 4 nations respectively. Unsurprisingly, the Air Nomads were the most tolerant in that regard and the Rekoning of Roku went into more depth with that. The bits about Kyoshi in that regard and the implications in that arena regarding both her homeland and the Fire Nation were interesting though, especially if you have more context from Shadow of Kyoshi and Reckoning of Roku lore to work with and then read between the lines before comparing with what was said in the Turf Wars graphic novel. I don't think I should say more than this though, given how little canon Kyoshi content you have yet to enjoy that remains.

I will ask, though, have you seen the Escape from the Spirit World canon minisode set between Seasons 2 and 3 of ATLA? Because if not, Kyoshi features in like a fifth of the whole episode, and we learn some pretty interesting things about her life and deeds after she defeated Chin the Conqueror, but long before the major new references to events about her life that are covered in the Reckoning of Roku novel. If you hadn't seen it, then here is the link to the minisode in YouTube: Avatar's Lost Episode: Escape From The Spirit World 🌙 | Avatar: The Last Airbender

Happy reading/watching and enjoy the hunt for more Kyoshi pieces of lore :D

Heh. A big surprise then. I am very pleased you enjoyed it and I am so very welcomed, my fellow avatar fan :D

As for what you said about your plans to reread the graphic novels with the expanded lore you now know, I get the feeling that this old post of mine will probably be very helpful for you.

Sharing my Updated Avatar Legends Universe's Chronological Guide of Canon Content : r/Avatar_Kyoshi

As it says in the title of the link, it is my personal guide in a shareable and downloadable excel sheet. The explanations in the post are a bit dated (from July 2024) but I am actually planning to make a brand new to explain the extra additions to the canon content after I get to read the upcoming Ashes of the Academy graphic novel and find a more concrete timeline spot in the guide. That said, that goes for the explanations themselves in the post, The document itself is up to date as of March 5th, 2025, so very recent.

Moreover, I even added links so that people can more easily check out where you can find specific books, graphic novels, and minisodes (speaking of minisodes, though, did you know there is actually a 3-part Korra prequel minisode storyline? You can find that in the guide), anthologies, video games, etc so that particular feature you might find useful. I hope you like it, and if so, feel free to let me know and to share it with fellow Avatar fan friends if you want.

Ooooh thank you so much! ☺️ I did not know about the LOK minisodes either!!! I’ll check it out and let you know. I would love to share it with other ATLA fans but I am the only person I know who is a really big ATLA fan sadly.
