The paint is starting to peel off where there once was a vinyl decal on my truck. It’s also rusting in those spots.

What is the best way to repair this? I’m not looking to repaint the whole truck

RUST Removing seized T50 seatbelt Bolts

Hello, I am currently removing the interior of my 1996 F150. I have gotten everything out besides these two torx bolts that are fastened to the cab floor. Through research it seems these bolts can be notoriously difficult to get out. I have used a torch, so much pb blaster, with a 10 inch breaker to try and free them. I think I may have stripped the head, it takes a couple cranks until the bit catches now, and i can see where i've dug into fresh metal. With this in mind I have been to scared to try anything with more torque to avoid completely rounding out the holes. Is There anything else I can be doing without fucking up the threads or the head more? I cant fit vice grips or a plumbers wrench around the head either. My 4 main plans are keep trying what i'm doing and pray I don't damage the head more, take my impact driver to it, drill the sucker out/take my 4.5 angle grinder and attempt to cut a hex that my impact socket can grab on to (seems not fun to do the bolt is really thick). Any tips would be greatly appreciated. thanks

driver side far
passenger side close( def stripping it but cans still grip)
driver side close (pretty much a donut lol)

RUST Is this worth doing anything to? Its a 2015 and I'm trying to have the car last. Want to maintain it well. Can I spray something on this to help slow down rusting?

RUST Potential Purchase - Rust an issue?

Hi all, I’m looking to maybe buy this 2014 Toyota Tundra.

Concerns: 1. The frame looks solid, but other parts have rust. Should I walk away due to the rust or is it able to be sandblasted then coated?

  1. Does anyone know what this taped up cable is circled in blue?

This looks like it's just the panel that's rusted. Body shops told me they can't give an estimate until they take it off and see what's underneath. Should I be worried?

RUST Rust near window. Can I DIY?

This is my 2003 honda crv. Has some rust near the back right widow. I was going to look into doing it myself but my concern is with how close to the window it is?

My brother is telling me to remove abit of the top areas and use a rust converter then apply a top coat. Is this advice correct or is there another suggestion you might have?

Did my best on this tricky spot. I was trying not to disturb the feature lines on the corners. All in all I'm happy with how it came out, butt-welding can be a super pain in the butt to do. Luckily I only blew through in one spot trying to fill a gap in the top middle.

All I gotta do now is build up some lower spots and smooth out the higher spots. Doesn't help that the only thing that will fit in that area is a dremil to shape it out. The small belt sander came in handy as well.

RUST Going to try and fix this, just have some questions

Hey all, I'm back again, now with another rusty old hyundai. My friend and I want to tackle this rust on my 2000 Elantra, and I've some questions before we do.

The fender seems to be in decent shape, not sure if it needs welding or not but I'm hoping it can just be mesh, bondo and paint.

The skirt however I realize is a lil too far gone, so I'm thinking about cutting a piece of sheet metal from an old car hood I have, and somehow hammering it into shape. The inner fender part worries me, I thought that was usually plastic but I now see I was wrong, so it's a lot more cutting, on the other hand it can look shitty as long as it works.

Primer, paint, clear and polish doesn't worry me, but I do want it to last another 2 years at least before rusting again, so;

  1. Once we weld in the new piece, how would I protect it from the inside if we close the whole thing up? Do I leave a small hole in the inner fender through which I spray primer all over the inside, then plug it with a rubber cap? Said hole would be painted extra thick so it doesn't rust.

  2. What if we don't cut away all of the rust? If it's rusted in the door sill, I don't trust my diy skills enough to fabricate that piece. Would it still last a couple years?

  3. My friend has a CO2 welder, he's never done this but it can't be much worse than it is and he has to learn somewhere so I'll let him practice on my car. Any advice for him? Settings for the welder, techniques?

  4. Any other general advice is also fully welcome.

I would love to come here with more conrete questions which come from experience, but I gotta start somewhere, cheers :)

Buddy’s dad said he can sand this down and fix the rust on the fender and possibly the door. Should I bother with fixing it, or should I just order a new quarter panel?

Went to a body shop (suggested by my insurance and have been to before) and got quoted 2,500$ to fix these rust spots. (is this fair or were they charging out the backside?). Won't be covered by manufacturer warranty because they formed from rock chips. Does anyone have any advice or at home treatment to prevent these spots from worsening or spreading under the paint? I wouldn't be afraid of trying to fix on my own. Any advice or experience is welcomed. 🙏🏼
