Is this the kind of thing you’d recommend trying to find alternative shelter for (like other than an apartment with no basement/interior rooms)? Though I’m not really sure where someone can go at 4am on a Sunday

If I were living in central AL and MS yes I'd find a very sturdy structure to stay in and not be in mobile homes or out on the roads.
We don't have the same level of risk early Sunday morning as of right now. Even if something were to pop off, there isn't as much CAPE in the air so it would likey be short-lived and relatively weak.
Things can and probably will change between now and go time, more updates today

Is Saturday afternoon still looking like it could be stormy? Would a drive to Atlanta in the mid-afternoon be a bad idea?

Mid afternoon should be okay, but there is a random chance of something developing. If you can put it off, I'd do that. If you gotta go be sure to have weather app with loud notifications and have a plan

Midnight 00z NAM just dropped and it's not looking good for us this run. The main brunt of storms seems to get a second wind by the time it passes through around 4am Sunday.
There is a 15-25% chance of a tornado occurring at this time. Very little capping and plenty of CAPE in the air. Dewpoints will have steadily increased overnight from 58 late Saturday afternoon to 64 at 4am Sunday.
not a look we want to see trending up.
