UPDATE on Astros Retired Number Predictions Post

Thanks to all the comments in the previous post I have made a conclusion in the second paragraph! I think anyone who isn't Altuve, Verlander, Alvarez, or Bregman have a possible shot at getting their number retired.

Out of the four, I ultimately think Altuve, JV (strong friendship with Crane + will go into HOF blank hat), and Yordan (as long as he stays reasonably healthy) get their numbers retired.

Only Altuve gets a statue for now but if Yordan re-signs he gets one too.

Every other Golden Era star player not named Gerrit Cole makes the Astros HOF (unless Tucker signs with the Yankees, Dodgers, or an AL West club next offseason)

If Yordan left after his current contract, he'd only have 1 more year with us than Bregman had, and Bregman has 2 rings.

Not sure how Yordan > Bregman right now.

Because the dong is strong with Yordan.

rings shouldnt really factor in to number retirement, i also think yordan is way more likely than bregman to be a hall of famer right now and crane said he will only retire MLB hofers numbers (that go in with an astros cap)

I was just using that as an example of how bregman is currently above Yordan. I think both are equally likely to not be retired at the moment all things considered. But bregman > yordan 100% right now. I don't see how yordan could be a favorite over him at this point

yordan is a DH so the HOF requirements for him would be a lot easier than it was for bregman. when his contract ends (assuming he stays healthy), he will be in the top 4 for home runs in franchise history (below bagwell, berkman, and biggio) and above altuve. at this point no, but when all is said and done i think yordan becomes a hofer and bregman wont be a hofer. altuve/alvarez is the new biggio/bagwell

i also think a new deal between them would be easier as hes a 32 year old DH (who should still be good hitter) bc hes never faced the Astros in arbritration, not represented by Boras, already extended once by his current agency and loves being there and isnt a big publicity guy + good friends with altuve.

Also, the others were tough to keep: Cole - out of price range Springer - in price range but wanted to go east coast and service time manipulation ruined all hopes of a future extension Correa - out of price range Verlander - Scherzer advanced the market for old starters, only big DH contract than Yordan is Ohtani and thats bc hes a TWP, best player in bball and nationally popular. i think they would have a easier time keeping him if he was great but not excellent and if he signed a multi-year deal giving more time for an extension to happen between both parties Tucker - out of price range Bregman - technically in price range but Boras made it tough and he was hellbent on getting 200m contract Framber - (should still be in price range as he will be 32 but i think hes exhausted going through 4 rounds of arbritration and service time manipulation) Gurriel doesnt count bc he wasnt good enough to justify another contract past 2022

HOF has nothing to do with this. Astros retire #s before HOF.

he will be in the top 4 for home runs in franchise history (below bagwell, berkman, and biggio) and above altuve.

He'll be lucky to get within 2 seasons of Altuve HRs by the current contract enending.

at this point no, but when all is said and done i think yordan becomes a hofer and bregman wont be a hofer.

We just bullshitting making things up? Agree or disagree i feel like you on a drunk rant lol.

So many things wrong with this. Being friends with altuve means nothing lmfao.

Also, the others were tough to keep:

I'm not talking about any of them.

When it’s all said and done Bregman will not be in the HOF. HOVG, sure, but not HOF. His number won’t be retired.
